i am just disgusted by the reactions of most singaporeans on this matter.
sure, shame on mr. Batisah for singing it wrong, considering that it is his native tongue.
but for ppl who claim to be patriotic, excuse me, sir but did u managed to catch the error by yourself? or did you need the newspaper to tell u? if u did not managed to catch the error by yourself and needed the newspaper to inform you. shame on you too. u have a point, but for a non malay to spot 'berseru' and bersatu is hard la..
but still...i think the guy feels bad abt it .. so enough of it.. the guy admitted and apologised so let's get on with our life. Ok, which one of you took my $500k!?

| Whatever it is, whether it is rightly or wrongly, it doesnt matter. What's matter is that you stand up and respect the song.
I am proud to say, I was one of the very first to do so and be counted on the grandstand. Only after 5 secs only rest follow suit.
Of course, I was also wearing my Ferrari T-Shirt... I look good in Red ya...

| Seriously folks, not counting our Malaysian or ex-Malaysian chappies here who know malay, how many of you truly understand what our National Anthem means Word for Word? If a foreigner was to pose this question to you, will you be able to give an answer? I must admit I do not know 100%. I will refresh myself every now when I foresee an interaction with foreign militaries cos they will sometimes pop questions like: - 'What does your National Flag represent?' - 'How many presidents have you had?' - 'Whats the name of your anthem? What does it mean? Really? Who was the composer? Why is it in a different language other than English when you guys are saying that English is taught in schools for all the subjects?' - 'What is the national language of Singapore then?' - 'Whats the size of your country? how many people?' Believe me they do. Does everyone of you 'true blue' Singaporeans know how to answer these fluently with pride and conviction? Being away from home 2/3 of my time in military life has made me understand the importance of being a Singaporean overseas and one of the first steps is to know your own country better. I suck at learning a different language other than English (thats why people at BFG calls me an ang mo beng) but I can honestly say I think I have flown our National Flag proudly and let those who ask me that it means 'Onward Singapore, let us unite to bring about success to the nation.' in a nutshell. It will at least overcome the shortfall in me not knowing the malay language at all. Taufik made a mistake, thats all. I see him as a decent representative of our Nation. Lets get on with our golf. | |
