has any played TPCC before? and how you rate the course?

Templar Park is renowned for being haunted....i found the changing room very eerie despite it being quite packed....there's a certain hole where the air is incredibly still with absolutely no sound at all....don't worry you'll know it when you play the hole...spooky!!!!.....rumour is that prisoners were executed and buried here during the 2nd. world war by the Japanese army

My uncle played at night there and there were extra shadows on the fairway.......

As for the course, it's actually quite fun....i enjoyed playing there but after rain, it's very soggy....the greens were in good shape and i'd definitely go back to play....but i'll shower at home....haha....

I've never played at TPCC but heard that it's quite a commando course. I've taken this to mean that it's tough.

Don't know about ghosts or anything, but I'm inclined to listen to GF here.

ZX, I organised a tourney for my Malaysian clients there once before. Sort of regretted it as management there was a let down...

There are 2 courses there. One is the TPCC which was known for Jap golfers and the other one is for governmental officials (that was what I was told). I think you are referring to the formal.

Like what GF says, the caddies told us that it is haunted especially when you play early morning or late in the evening. GF, I think you are referring to the hole that is near the 'mountain'?

Facilities wise, unless there has been a major renovation, it is somewhat similar to Pondorosa in my opinion but more dated.

Ha...like I said, you can't miss that hole....i'd heard all the stories and every old site in both MY and SG claim that the japanese buried POWs on their grounds......this one i believe though since the greens are quite undulating...haha....dunno what that says about warren.....

I'm a huge sceptic of ghosts and all that, but i firmly believe that we aren't the only ones duffing around that course...my uncle and his buddies who are incredibly hardcore golfers (if they were pornstars, there'd be a warning label for the perverts) have sworn off playing there after they saw shadows running across the fairway during night golf many years ago.....(i think the club have stopped night golfing now)......

however, this shouldn't put you off from playing the course.....it's tough and may be soggy during the rainy season but it's a good test of your game....check out the review on gilagolf....

Btw, iZX if your tee off time is around 7 - 8 am, suggest you go early, the turning into the road to the clubhouse from the main street is a killer....

There are 2 Templers in Selangor : Perangsang Templer GC (PTGC), and Templer Park GC (TPGC). The latter is a better known club and it's a nice club to play, designed and managed by Japs, if you don't mind the poorly maintained fairways.

I never felt anything eerie, since I am not a superstitious guy. Prisoners were executed here but don't listen to rumours of ghosts.

The layout is good, but maintenance sucks, you may regret playing there during these monsoon time. Views are quite unique in some holes where you can see some limestone hills, sometimes wrapped in layers of mist especially after rain.

Like many Japs courses, distance markers measure up to front of the green only so if you hit your approaches short in first few holes, remember this.

actually I intend to play there on Monday morning but saw on gilagolf that the traffic there is a killer during rush hour ... coupled with soggy fairway means I'll probably give it a miss

having extra spectators to watch me play will probably boost my ego a bit ...

Was told by my customer in Msia.... seems true.... his friends were playing at Templers Park around 5pm and their speed was reasonably fast... somehow they caught up with an old couple in front at the last few holes who played like beginners but they tried to play fast by walking quickly to their balls and hitting them... that caused some kind of delay and frustrations to these low handicappers..... when they completed their games when the sky has turned dark, back in the clubhouse, they complained to the marshalls.... the two marshalls looked at each other with their eyes opened wide and told them..... there is no flight in front of them..... the last flight before them had completed their rounds an hour ago...... they all stared blankly at one another.... subsequently, one of them heard from another marshall that this is not the first time they had heard about the old couple.....

Morale of the story..... if you want to play in templers park, play early.... dun end your game in the evening time......

could be someone sneaking into the course and play without the marshall knowing it and hence why they try to play fast (fear of getting caught).

When you play in such a surroundings, all the daily stress of urban living melts away into the majesty of nature.

It can get quite sunny and hot, despite the natural surroundings. But certainly one of the most gorgeous course around.

the club house looks deserted and lifeless, but otherwise seems like another great natural course. I can see the fairway condition is not that great so it's probably one of those course where the land just being cleared to make way for a fairway with no much being done on the fundamental, kindda like Mandai executive golf course or the one in Tioman berjaya (can't remember what it is) in a way I would guess.

but the scenery is absolutely stunning.

Just came back from playing a round there today.

And I have to say, I am impressed!

A lot has changed since one year plus ago when I last played there.

Firstly, now there's plenty of people! No longer feels like a spooky haunted place.

Next, they've cut the rough! Hooray! No more losing the ball when it rolls off the green.

Furthermore, and this is amazing for the current monsoon season, not a single plugged ball on the fairway! Some plugging in the rough in certain parts, but quite locatable because like I said above, they've cut the rough down.

And the greens are sharp and tricky. So, better bring your best putting game, because it's no slow green you can just jab your ball into.

Wow, I must say I did not expect all this improvement.

And it's very near KL, only about 24km away.

Please heed the instructions about not keeping any food in the buggy because the monkeys are FIERCE! I had a confrontation with one today which stole my packet of tees. It bared its fangs at me, which took me aback, so I did my best impression of the incredible hulk, and it backed off. It was hunting for the bread I though I had hidden well in the pocket of my golf bag. Must have caught the scent.

All in all, a beautiful course in excellent condition currently. And I certainly would return to play there again.

Oh, forgot to mention this.

With current weather, the wind can whip up quite a bit around the key feature, the million-year old limestone hill Bukit Takun.

So, on top of converting yard to meter and adding the distance of the pin from the fringe to the yardage for par 4s and 5s but not par 3s (yes, confused me a bit as well), don't forget to factor in the wind speed and direction when choosing club.

I hit what I thought was a good driver shot but it drifted to the right. Checked my swing to ensure it does not slice again, hit a provisional... drifted right again!

Then later realised I hit two straight shots, but the wind pushed it to the right.

There are quite a number of holes where we need to carry water. The wind makes it VERY interesting...
