Andrew if you are on medication for hypertension, don't be like me, taking it for granted that with medication it's under control. Please monitor your blood pressure more regularly. At least once every 2 or 3 days minimum. Do it for your own sake if not foryour family. Take care.

Wow..... you took the medications for 20 years and suddenly this stoke still happened? Did you go back for regular check with your cardio? Or do you check your BP regularly? Just wondering how does one prevent this even with medications? Have a speedy recovery.....

I did not check My own bp regularly. As and when I feel like it because I took it for granted that I am already on medication And the bp was very regular around 140/95. However, after this incident I am going to take things with Avery different perspective. Take care

well done on your quick action. Many of us will wait-and-see despite hearing many stories of untimely demise due to wait-and-see. Your story will definitely teach many of us to quickly take action, never mind the $$ or potential embarrassment...even if its for the sake of our golfing career.

potential life threatening...ppl still can take risk, golf ending injury..immediately go see doctor.....if the end result is go see doctor, problem solved.

BTW golfers 1st question to doctor is always "can still play golf?" or "how long before can play golf?"....

Hi. I am new to this forum. I've been thinking of going to for a health screening for some time but have not done anything about it. Reading this has motivated me to go for it. Need to stay healthy to play golf.

There are severial health screening packages out there. Anyone have any to recommend?

Dear bros,

I suggest those above age 40 go for annual medical check up. I, like bro Tituman am on 4 types of mediation daily in the morning and one in the evening for the past 6 years. I am not sure of bro Tituman's age but I will be 56 next month.

I have Atrial Fribillation (AF), Hypertension (HBP) and an enlarge heart due to HBP. My specialist doctor say my case is quite rare, the AF that is and must not stop medication even though I don't feel it. But right now I am still able to golf regularly. Swing

Don't wait for something to happen before going for check up. It may be too late.

Glad that you are safe. As for future,yes dramatic changes expected. It's aint the medicine but our daily lifestyle contributes.. For golf, you might need to slow down. I have had a heart attack 4 yrs back, with 6 stents inserting into 3 vessels. Now i am on 8 types of medicine daily including aspirin. Take things slowly and dont rush into getting into games esp in ranges when you hit the balls hard.

Well, I have been discharge today instead of yesterday as I thought it was too early to be discharge yesterday. Requested to remain one more day for observation yesterday as this is no small matter. Currently, my strength on the affected side which is left have regained more than 90% usage according to the doctor. However, I can feel tha lag (ha ha usage of this word reminds me of golf) in both left arm and leg compared to the right side. I guess it takes awhile before it can synced properly together. I can walked without any noticeable difference if I don't walk quickly.
