cant they just be friends.....just like the corporate world (at times)

ok...I am defintely watching the president cup singles match up between TW and AS and SW

Steve Williams made news again with another derogatory remark about his former employer, Tiger Woods, at a dinner at the HSBC Champions in Shanghai on Friday night, and this time observers were abuzz over the racial nature of his intemperate comment.

According to the Telegraph newspaper, Williams was on stage and in front of a microphone to accept a caddie award at Le Meridien Sheshan hotel and lashed out when he was asked why he celebrated so exuberantly after his new boss Adam Scott's victory at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in August.

"My aim was to shove it right up that black -------," Williams was quoted as saying in the Telegraph. The comment surprised many and appeared in several tweets in the minutes immediately following the dinner.

Williams later issued an apology on his website.

"I apologize for comments I made last night at the Annual Caddy Awards dinner in Shanghai. Players and caddies look forward to this evening all year and the spirit is always joking and fun. I now realize how my comments could be construed as racist. However I assure you that was not my intent. I sincerely apologize to Tiger and anyone else I have offended."

I read this also, as a fellow Kiwi Steve has lost the plot....

His last outburst when he was fired I said, " ok emotions" I could sort of understand..

This one, no way... retire Steve, go back to the farm before that foot gets jammed permanently in that mouth.... Beer

He should be sacked. It's one thing to joke but quite another to be offensive. I'm not sure what happened between him and Tiger but I'm inclined to say that Tiger made the correct decision to get rid of him.

It's a matter between employer/employee to settle this issue privately. In the employment contract, both parties are deem to reserved the right to serve notice for termination of contract and work out how much compensation will be made by whichever party.

Unfortunately, in the recent case and in the heat of the moment, Steve made some negative remarks and have been deemed racist. I hope for Steve to forget the past and move on with his new employer Adam Scott. Don't forget Adam is watching Steve's emotion and reaction and might think that this is what he will receive should something untoward happen, similar to the TW case surface. I am sure Steve don't want to end his career prematurely as a caddie.

At least you can give it to SW that he is honest with his opinions. Racist or not, it all up the context of his speech. I don't see it as racist... Sometime, you just got to see it as humor.

This does not sound as humour to me. It sounds rather vengeful Evil or Very Mad

If that comment is made to our race it would be seen as racist, regardless of whether it's a joke.

But he will get his chance to meet TW pretty soon. It will be interesting to see both TW and SW's reaction when they meet. Hopefully there will be no sparks.

Vengeful...may be not but bitter and rude...certainly. He probably said it in a jest and in a point blank fashion and probably after a few beers. Well, we should enjoy it as humor and not read too much to it.

The only thing the entire TW/SW saga proves is that money buys a lot of things, but it can't buy you class........

If it was Anthony Kim and his caddy said something along the lines of "yellow skinned fag," would you say that's racist?

TS, I cant tell, at least to me its a borderline of "may be". Still, we need to read the text of it.

I never realized that Steve Williams had previously called Phil Mickelson a "prick."

He's an arrogant man and deserves to spend the rest of his career caddying for Mloy. She'll shut him up for good.
