| i spent about a week in Bali with my wife.... 1) 2 days in Nusa Dua Grand Hyatt 2) 2 days in Ubud Alila 3) 2 days in Seminyak/Kuta played golf in 2 courses, Nirwana GC and New Kuta GC a) Nusa Dua - great place for family holiday, guarded compound, beautiful sandy beaches, a place to vege out.... [img] [/img] attas convenience store.... [img] [/img] b) Ubud Alila - forest retreat, nature hideaway, walk in the padi fields, scent of the forest after a afternoon rain, great shopping for wood craving, stone craving, painting etc... My stay at Alila.... [img] [/img] Pool view [img] [/img] room view to the Puri Wulanghari retreat [img] [/img] c) Seminyak/Kuta - shopping shopping and more shopping, there is nothing to shop at Kuta for us, much prefer to shop at Seminyak, more uptown without the designer price, bought all our clothes there Food wise - i din like the local food, cook differently from most malay food we eat in Spore, but we had good Japanese at Ubud (S$10 for bento), great pork ribs from Naughty Nuri (meat just came off the bone), excellent pizza at Trattori....all dinners, most lunch we just grab sandwiches n burgers Golf - Nirwana must play, not a difficult course, most par 4s average about 350yds but stunning view, most rave about the temple from the par3 but i find the stretch from hole 12-14 the most breathtaking view, saw a promo for a stay n play package for US$165, 1 nite at Pan Pacific + 1 round of golf. As for New Kuta golf, scenery not as nice as Nirwana but more challenging than Nirwana (links course, most holes played into the wind). Next to New Kuta GC is also a new resort call Kapla, beautiful view into the ocean while having dinner (food so-so but full mark for ambience, having dinner on a high cliff overlooking the ocean is one experience i cant find in spore. Overall: if i do go back to bali, i will go head north to Ubud 1st, healthy living for a day or 2, maybe buy some paintings, then go south to Seminyak for 2 days, play golf at Nirwana (closer to Seminyak) plus shopping for the wife/gf, and finally retreat to the beaches at Nusa Dua with another round of golf at New Kuta. Spa is availabale at all 3 places. I will skip Kuta altogether, too crowded n chaotic. Dun bother going. There are also other places like Jimbaran, Sanur, Singhara etc but i din have the time.... maybe my Indo frens here can chim in 3 words.... I love Bali | |

| Wah.. very nice I love Bali too. I think the local food is pretty good. I went to this place called Bebek Bengel and they served really lovely food but the killer was this Russian Vodka cafe which was so heavily laden with vodka that I could smell it a mile away. Yes, I finished it | |

| There is a nice Chinese seafood restaurant just outside the airport, turn left after the exit towars kuta side and the restaurant is about 500m+ on the left. Slightly further to the right on the same road, there is a nice HK porridge place. Good for midnite snack.
Also near the Bali golf and Country Club, there is a small restaurant that serves nice Bali style seafood (a plate of rice in the middle and all the bbq seafood on the side - cannot remember name). Pretty cheap at about S$7 per plate.

Ketut and his wife was our guide when we made our trip there. Great service and very accomodating to our plans and also made wonderful recommendations. I manage to snag an artpiece from Arie Smith at a steal thanks to them.

| Slinger, did you eat at ibu oka?
Sanur is laid back, more family oriented, away from the buzz in Kuta. Good for afternoon siesta.
Asahi, shall we activate the invasion team next year? Nirwana/Kuta Assault.

| Panji, I had Ibu Oka! Tooo commercialised, there's one Babi Guning along the way to Ubud from Seminiak that was nice, I am not sure the name of the place, but its a popular place for the locals. | |

u going for golf? shopping? relax? sightseeing? family? if golf, then seminyak n nusa dua is your top choice... if shopping, seminyak is better..... kuta is only 20-30mins away if young family, i prefer nusa dua....

Asahi, shall we activate the invasion team next year? Nirwana/Kuta Assault. Yah (on Sanur) but I found the beach not as friendly as Kuta or Seminyak. I love Seminyak... very nice Highly recommended: http://www.thesamayabali.com/
