| I did a search but did not get any result. Looking for a new driver, and thought I'd look into this one. Just wondering whether anyone here has tried the Yonex Ezone 380 club before? | |

| No one?
Sigh.
So if I decide to go for it, I'll be the guinea pig then.
The 380 was not available for demo, so I tried the 420, which was definitely not as long as my Adams 9015D, but certainly more forgiving.
The 380 is much less forgiving (which is why I am intrigued by it as a trainer to whip my swing into shape) and should give more distance distance than the 420 because it is lower spinning. I'm just wondering whether it will be as long as the 9015D.

Errr... thanks for the poison.... (can feel it slowly seeping through....) Wah, if I do, then my bag is slowly becoming almost all Japanese. Driver - american 3 wood - american hybrids - american, but being challenged by 3 and 4 iron irons - Miura wedges - Miura putter - scotty, but Miura putter already waiting... But bag? Still TAYLORMADE!

| I got the ezone 450.. one word: orgasmic (if connect dead centre..) Can feel the ball take off from the face like on a trampoline. A really low spin driver.
However there are some things u need to know if u intend to purchase it. PM me to find out more.
Overall; its' a well made driver, imo.

| Finally got a chance to try the ezone 380 at a golf festival at klgcc. The salesman was directing me to other models, but I made a beeline for the 380.
At first I was not used to the head shape. It is much smaller than the picture looks, a shock really, so there was some initial doubt whether I could hit with it. First few shots, slices and hooks.
But once I got used to the characteristic, I soon forgot the small head size.
With a good contact, the head felt... not sure how to best describe it... absolutely SOLID. It feels as though there's no air inside the head, just solid mass. Reminds me of the phrase "An unstoppable force meeting an immovable mass." This I believe was due to the position of the CG, directly behind the sweet spot instead of slightly below it.
So it launches low, and penetrates. Distance is achieved with ease, which would suggest low spin.
The Nanopreme shaft is only offered in R or S, and they had the S for demo. S felt too whippy and I had to tone it down. And yet, it still hit the net at the end of the range. That says something about the head.
Then comes the crunch. I asked about the price. RM1,900. Ouch. Esp when I factor in a replacement shaft w the flex I want.
Conclusion? Good head, placing the CG directly behind the sweetspot changes the characteristic of the impact significantly, and would be interesting to see how it plays. But pricey. Offered w a shaft in the wrong flex for the type of players it is targetting, or rather, the retailer brought in the wrong flex.

| the 380 is a pretty rare item....
for example, we were told there were only a dozen 8 degrees ever made. if you go to the US website, they list it in their inventory but purportedly its out of stock.
we have 2 of those babies in store plus all the other models, fw and hybrids. the yonex is never going to be a mass item but those who have them, swear by it. i am not a big fan of pear shape myself so the experience is only limited to the range.
hope it helps.....DGman
