| Hi all, new to this forum. just wanted to know how do i determine what is the suitable putter length i should be using. i've tried both 34" and 35" for the putter im looking to get (odyssey white ice #1) and i seem to be able to use both. just need to bend down a bit more for the 34". is there a way to determine this? and also for the different length putters, is it just the entension of the shaft? or is there a difference in the weight of the head also?
really appreciate any help! Thanks.

| this is really a topic i've been looking for. i tot putter length could be insignificant until i got 33" putter length. it really make alot of different when you swing the ball forward. unless you have a big belly, 34" is quite normal.
anything that allow your hand to pass your body smoothly will be good, otherwise you may need shorter putter length. i like using 35", although 33" works very well for me.

| Dude,
What you mentioned all matter; length of putter, head weight. Putting is all about your comfort. If your putting stats are okay (36 putts and below) with whichever variables, then stick with it bah.

| Hi matey
There's a simple way to determine the ideal putter length that you should have.
Stand in your normal putting posture, hang your arms as you would take your normal stance for putting. Hold your putter without adjusting your your posture or hand position. Your right hand should be positioned about 2-3 inches from the bottom of your putter. If you had to adjust your hands to have your right hand in that position, it would mean your putter length is inadequate for you. Should have a putter that sits comfortably in your hands.
The longer the putter, the lighter the head weight would be unless custom fitted. Eg, the putter I use has a 340g head weight for it's 34inch length. However, it's 350g for 33inch.
Hope that helps Cheers | |
