I never liked Steve Williams. But I doubt he cares.

This guarantees that even if he's a great caddie, he's not much else and a POS.

But this is classic Williams. I would have been surprised if he was humble about the win.

As a professional caddie, Stevie should be more discrete in what he said in the public. Afterall, his ex-boss has treated him exceptionally well when he once carried his bag. I believe he was the richest caddie in the world when he was still with his ex-boss. Regretably he has conveniently forgotten the person who has helped to make that happened.

Reminds me of the time Stephen Ames said something about Tiger, and then he got creamed 9 and 8 in the next time he was paired up with Tiger in a matchplay tournament.

Steve Williams should know how his ex boss loves to dig his opponents hearts out by mercilessly killing them. Which is why I wonder why is he doing all these things recently. Maybe he's just trying to give Tiger the fire he needs to get over his mental hump. In which case, I salute you, Steve Williams, for trying to dish out tough love.

Problems is Payback is a bitch, and I like Adam Scott enough to not want to watch Tiger kill him 10 and 9 in the next presidents cup or something.

Tiger keeps grudges but they will make up eventually. Maybe when Tiger is eligible for champions tour Laughing

Im interested to see if Adam can finally reach his potential and win multiple majors now that he has a top notch caddy and a reliable putter to compliment his pre-divorce-tiger-like swing.

I don't know what's the deal is. I'm not even sure if Steve got paid during those long period when Tiger was off the course. So suffice enough I don't know enough of the situation to judge and give comments on the situation.

What I can comment is that I pity that the pair broke up. I remember how well Tiger played before with his impossible shot and Steve was there with him. I guess those images are a classic now and a long shot to ever happen again at best.

I do agree with most of you folks that Steve should just keep it to himself whatever grudge he has with his previous bos.

As for Tiger, like most of us, I'm looking forwad to see him play as well as 3 years back and compete with the youngblood(s).

Maybe Tiger just sent Steve a letter or announce to media of the sack without informing him first? I mean, we really don't know what goes on behind the scene....

We don't really know what led to the "divorce" or its circumstances....
But one things is for sure, Stevie is really sore and felt betrayed. Hence, I guess this is a natural reaction of one who feels betrayed.

SW and TW are made for each other, both are self consuming egomaniacs, both are equally cocky.

But physics tells us that unlike poles attract, like poles repel.....TW has to fire SW. TW is so possesive that he cannot bear to see SW work even part time for Adam Scott.

That drives SW to win, riding on Scott, just to vindicate his dismissal by TW. If he got his customary 10% cut from Scott's win, he actually made more than TW in 38th place of about $50k.

I am not a "Stevie" fan, I have met hime before, and he does a huge amount for charity back home...

A few points though... Steve was already a top caddy and had decided to quit the game and race cars full time, when Tiger called and asked him to work for him. He was already rich, and had already carried bags of Major winners.

He was fired by phone, not in person... because he caddied for Adam, he asked Tigers permission, Tiger said yes, but then changed his mind, but Steve had already committed to Adam.

Steves marriage was in jepody because of Tigers "girls", the wife and the World in general (me included) could not belive that Steve could not know about the 14+ mistreses, so of course the wife thinks if Tigers doing it so must Steve be... all the while Steve stuck by Tiger..

I am glad Adam won, it is about time, I am also glad that Steve was finally smilling on the course...

And I am glad the All Blacks beat the Wallabies while NZ was carrying Australia's golf bag. Very Happy

Still not a fan though! Beer

Stevie is a foreign talent la...and fm some of them who I had the chance to meet, they have that kind of expectation la.....

Fell off my chair when I watched the repeat......the Feherty chap actually interviewed Stevie at the end of the game...this is the first for me....Caddy get interviewed !!! nothing wrong, but first time i seen such thing.........and then I fell off my chair again, when Stevie said...this is his best moment ....of his career .....duh !!!!

And lastly, I fell off my chair and knock my head ...when they are now tracking how many wins...the caddy has ....for SW is 49

Well...I am gonna start this....as a fan....I been watching in excess of 100+ wins...SW eat your heart out !!

Hey SH, barring the charitable work that he has done or whatever, he still came across as classless.

1st of all, who the heck interviews the caddy 1st after that win? I tot it was Adam who won it?

Sure he was a good caddy back then for Greg Norman, Ray Floyd and IBF but were the purses as big as now? Who was responsible for it? Has the public ever heard of him when he was sweating his balls off for Greg?

Best week ever? I guess a WGC Bridgestone win triumphs over the Tiger Slam, 70 wins and 13 Majors that happened in the last 10+ years.

Frankly, I could care less about Tiger being not much of a person. His job was to play golf and entertain us with his magical skills. I don't care if he had 141 mistresses or loves to spit on the green. I care more about watching him hit that 181yd 8 iron to a couple of feet to beat Padrig 2 years ago at this same tournament or how he won his last Major on a broken leg.

Stevie, his job is to caddy. Not once in that interview did he mentioned anything about Adam. If you read the full transcript of a more detailed interview he did later, he sounded more like a coach than a caddy. Hey Stevie, STFU and do your job. If you forget what your primary objective is, you lose the plot totally.

If you do get cornered into being interviewed, thank the fans for their support and say something like looking forward to working w Adam after 2 long years or whatever. Take the high road. Unfortunately for him, he just can't seem to do it.

the media are the ones who created the stir. SW could not have jumped in front of the camera to be interviewed. i am sure the media are just lining up to get their share of Tiger beating. thats a story itself.

A lot of caddies are coaches and some are certified sports psychologist. the interview with AS which appeared in today's ST indicated how important the caddie was to that win.

of course its not the fans who should judge what a player can do or not do in their private lives but the sponsors can. evidence that TW has lost 6 sponsors - Tag Heuer, Accenture, AT&T, Gatorade, Gillette, and Golf Digest indicates what importance the human brand represents.

there are lots of TW fan here, but the truth is the truth, TW is never going to be the same. we would like to see the old TW make a comeback but it will take a lot to make that happen. Especially when the rest of the golfing world improve and continue to break new grounds.

Just imagine if one is SW and he got fired by his boss via the media, he wins with his new player and got interviewed...what will he say...i think his response was rather spontaneous.

at the end of the day, its the media who got what they set out to do...Tiger beating. i am sure there will be more unless he can somehow forget about his infidelity and concentrate on his abilities.

happy national day.

I never liked Tiger, then, now n ever. So to me, if e hand tat feeds u turn on u, u r entitled to 'strike' back. Human nature.

Just like Formula 1, is it e driver or e car? Can Vettel win tat many races if he is driving Lotus?

I am not disagreeing with you mate, but..

If Steve was interviewed before Adam, that is media not Steve's fault. What Steve says, now that is a different story.

He was a great caddy for the old guys, and as I said he was retiring, giving it all up he was finished... Then Tiger called HIM!.. I dont really think he gave a rats bum who had heard of him or not, he was going to race cars, he was already rich.

Best week ever is relative to each person right, you cannot say which is his best week, I have had better games and weeks and missed cut, than a week I have had when I won, it is all relative...

A good caddy can mean the difference making the cut and winning an event, a huge difference, they do more than just carry a bag, you should know that... that is why they get paid so much.

I did not read the transcript but was he ever asked about Adam? Some interviewers stage their questions to get the reponce they want, that is media.

Everyone is angry because Tiger "made him famous" but as I said he was done, his choice... Tiger choose him. Tiger made his bed, now he has to sleep in it... Beer

Of course I know that there are differences in a great caddy mate. However, when a caddy starts thinking that they are more impt than they really are, then thats the part where its crossing the mark.

If he was retiring and rich, he shd have considered heading back to race cars after TW let him go. Why go on and hook up with Adam?

Look at Fluff. After he got too famous for himself and he tried to cash in on it, TW also let him go. Instead of hee-ing and haw-ing about it, he now has a decent boss in the likes of Jim Furyk (not this year though and god almighty has gone with the Broomstick too).

There will always be many opinions to go on about it. Let's just put it as agree to disagree. I personally was pretty impartial to him even after all the camera throwing and fan abusing the last time but this week made me just turn away in disgust.

Here is the transcript. Take note of Q 3 and 4. He has won 145 tournaments btw. More than Sam Snead if you asked. Rolling Eyes

http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-tours-news/blogs/local-knowledge/2011/08/steve-williams-its-the-greatest-week-of-my-life.html

And FYI, I watched his interview then I saw Adam's one. Whichever way 1st, he is probably the only caddy I know that has ever held a press conference.

And Shaggy, we dun appreciate ppl polluting the forum with 1 or 2 sentence postings just to clock 20 and post in the marketplace. I also think I wun be interested in any of your items.
