| Hi Golfers !
Focusing on your target and "only" on your target is one of the most important things to play consistant golf. How many times it happen to you, that just after thinking NOT to hit it in the water or OB you end up hitting it there? Well, its because the subconscious and your muscles is directed to the last object you think about or see. Remember, your subconscious do not know the word "DONT". If you think about "DONT"... What do you see ? Nothing right !. But when you think about water , bunker or OB, most likely you can see it in your mindseye. So try to avoid the saying " DONT hit it in the water" or " Dont hit it Left ,watch out for the OB" or the most common one i hear is " Hope i dont miss this birdie putt " Your subconscious only see water, left ,OB and miss so most likely you end up giving shots away to your playing partners.
So next time you go play try this:
When it is your turn to hit the next shot, keep using the 3/3 breathing technique to relax while focusing "only" on your target( Try and avoid hazard thinking ). Surely your target is the fairway but try to focus intensely on a specific part of the fairway rather than the whole fairway or down right /left side. Pick a spot perhaps a building on the horizon or a tree in the background which is inline with your target line and focus hitting the ball towards that specific object. By giving your mind and subconscious a specific target ( small target) it will direct the muscles to produce the right movements to reach your target. So the last picture in your mind before hitting the ball should be the target you want, and NOT the hazards !
Hope this will help you guys in avoiding that double par's and messing up a decent round of golf.
Happy Golfing !
Regards
Adriaan Herman

| See what you wrote ? "But ALWAYS end up in the harzard".. That's a negative thought, and how many times your playing partners will say ' I always play this hole badly ' ?
Keep working on your fundamentals in the swing and practice the positive thoughts on the range untill you get use to it. You should always practice the way you play !...
Btw, What is your handicap now ?

| Doing target practising on range is helpful, recently I have also switch to this method.. from shot iron to mid iron.
The only problem I face is when using driver and my #3 hybrid, unless I hit at a higher deck where I can see where my ball landed, I really have no idea where my ball go ... any advise on that ?

Do you wear eyewear ? glasses ? Hi pro Yes, I'm on glasses...keke My driver distance is very short, I was hoping to see the landing of the ball, but at ground, sometime it's quite difficult, especially at night. Do u think move to upper deck is good idea ? What else can I do ?

| Golf Snowman, convert a pair of binoculars to wear like spectacles. Moving up is a pretty good idea actually. I might be mistaken, but I believe it gives you something close to your true distance. Range ball already flies shorter than normal, moving up means you hit further than if you were on level ground. These two parts of the equation should add up to more or less your real distance hit with a regular ball. Just don't go too high up. | |

Hey Adrian! Great stuff you sharing here. Agree with you wholeheartedly on having negative thoughts......it's like a self-fulfiling prophecy i.e. you score badly for a particular hole and thereafter you always tell yourself that and somehow it will materialize. What I do now is to focus on my swing e.g. backswing and downswing to minimize negative thots. Thanks for the reminder dude!

Great tip Adriaan, thanks. It makes lotsa sense. BTW, any tips on how I should practice on the range if I only got time for 50 balls twice a week and 100 balls once a week?
