In America, they banned a lot of pre-1980s cartoons, especially those before 1960.
They say the cartoons are racists (a few are) or degrading to minorities or women.
For example, Speedy Gonzales is supposedly too offensive to Mexican-Americans because he cannot 'speeeek' well. The Frito Lays 'Frito Bandito' commercial was banned for the same reason and they said it encouraged kids to think Mexicans were thieves (stealing potato chips)!
Aunt Jemima pancake syrup changed its image from a 19th century 'Mammy' to a more modern afircan-american woman's image. And Sambos restaurant changed its original company character from a 'po' but happy negro boy' to a cartoon image of an Asian Indian and his pet tiger!
Some Buggs Bunny, Yosemite Sam and Droopy Dog (Tex Avery produced toons) are 'banned' also for 'offending'--Japanese (especially those produced during WW2 such as "Nip the Nips'), Blacks, Latinos, Chinese, Jews, and women.
Furthermore, some old cartoons and shows are deemed 'too violent' for kids to watch such as Tom & Jerry or The Three Stooges (see my avatar).
