With a bit socializing with the regulars here, I have learnt a lot of new terms.... Now, I am still a bit confused about those terms so if one of the Senior GRians (or anybody actuallY) willing to teach me about a few things:
1. Vegas game? wth is that?
2. giving 9-9 what does this mean? 9 stroke outbound and 9 stroke inbound for a total of 18? How does it work, aggregate total or by hole?
3. yesterday on lunch table golfool went on about par doubling the stake etc... is this part of vegas? or is this another type of game?
What I have been in (expensive, expensive lesson for me) is that I got 0-2-2 (0 for par3, 2 for par4, 2 for par5) and stake doubled if winner make par, triple if he birdies. is it something similar? How the heck it got to 80 in a hole per pax if so from a basis of 10??

Sorry, just couldn't sleep last night trying to figure the numbers out! And then I remember someone wise said to me, if don't know - ask! Razz

Thanks beforehand! Very Happy

For number 2 , depend if you play match play or stroke play ... for matchplay will be a shot a hole for the entire 18 , for stroke u get front 9 & back 9 u got just 9 stroke added to his score.

To explain vegas and no. 3 (something which is fairly new for me, though I've played different variations over the years):
Team 1: Player A scores 3; Player B scores 4 = 34
Team 2: Player C scores 4; Player D scores 7 = 74 (reverse the highest and lowest score)

74 - 34 = 40 points
Double it, as we had agreed that if the same team scores a birdie and a par = 80 points
$1 per point = $80

Search the forum for more detailed explanations on vegas and also Snakes.....but the best way to learn is to play it......haha

Tx for the explanation guys!

Golfool - tried to search the forum ("vegas" and "snakes") but yields nothing.... Btw maybe the best way to learn (without getting skinned) is to be the accountant of a betting group... does accountant get any cut? Very Happy
