I've did a bit of reading and if I am not wrong, there is something wrong with the Throttle Position Sensor ( it determines how much fuel should be pumped into your engine or something), so what happens is the car is getting the signal that I want to zham the accelerator even though my foot is not on the pedal.

Its very much something like pressing the brake + accelerator same time. The car don't move, but the engine roar super loud. The moment you try to move the car by releasing the brake pedal, the car zooms forward/backwards v fast. Unintended acceleration.

To me, its very dangerous..how come there is no fail-safe mechanisms for this? Also the Electronic Throttle System I think earlier version are not as stable and are more prone to this problem. I've called a mechanic from another workshop and he told me that he has seen this issue a few times with peugeot cars (of course that is not condemning statement la seeing as its only one workshop and one mechanic). At least I know its not just an isolated problem.

Am i making a big hoo-ha out of nothing? like maybe this case happen to alot of ppl but there must be a reason why they nv complain right?

Edit: After further reading, there are supposed to be Failsafe mechanisms in place for this kind of electronic throttle system.

"Generally speaking, at the first sign of a problem, most electronic throttle controls are designed to close the throttle and return to idle. So, for example, if the engine control unit detects a problem with a sensor, the system reverts to idle, preventing the throttle from opening."

Correct me if I am wrong..

Close throttle = Not pressing down on accelerator
Open throttle = Press down on accelerator. Hard.

So what happened was, my sensor spoil, the fail safe mechanisms FAILED too, thats why the engine still reads it as open throttle. What the....

Thats like hitting a push + a slice or a pull + a hook. Sure OB.

It also cound be that the sensor is dirty and it is picking up incorrect reading of you accelerating or decreasing the speed.

yup that could be another reason too. But the technician told me they going to change it for 700 dollar on top of 100/hr troubleshooting fee..I'm thinking if dirty shouldn't need to replace right? unless they dua kang and try to chop carrot. T_T

There wasn't any problem with the brakes though..which is dam heng. If brakes got problem I probably not here typing liao...haha

Depend on cars but it is sure not easy even to clean the trottle body due to the tight space in the engine compartment. If it is S$ 100/- to clean, let them have the money lah. Cool

O2 sensor on manifold and exhaust spoilt sometimes because of wear and tear but I don't think the trottle body one will be damaged even for 10 years and average of 25,000 KM per year of usage.

BTW, I am not expert on cars but just sharing my experience and limited knowledge that I know. Laughing

Like golf, I am a season beginner for many years already as I am a range golfer (goes to range a lot more often than green). Laughing

eh I also range golfer..haha but now no car cannot go range dam sad can. T_T

Anyway I spoke with the technician from STA inspection centre over the phone. He tell me the sensor ar..usually chui 3-5 years like what the peugeot technician say..so those people whose car using older models of the electronic throttle system watch out hor!

The STA technician also funny guy.He hear my car 6 years old he chua tiok, lol, he tell me go sell my car asap. He say my car alot of parts going to chui liao.Maybe will see peugeot car in marketplace soon.He tell me VICOM and STA don't do this kind of inspection, only do inspection for LTA/Road tax etc., ask me go settle with Peugeot. LTA also same response say to go settle with Peugeot, if not write complaint letter they reply in 2 weeks(sry hor, 2 more weeks without golf i will die). . So far the people from CASE has been most helpful. The rest like playing poisonball, siam siam siam!

I am going to walk in and lodge complaint to CASE tomorrow. Hopefully if they publish my article on STforum got chance to pressure them otherwise LLST (lan lan suck thumb) liao.

Fatboy, actually 100 dollar let them clean is ok...but the peugeot they charging me $100/hr to check what the problem is...maybe they take 2hr break lim kopi while checking I waste 200 dollar liao. Then on top of that 700 dollar to change the component. They think my name is Lee Ka Shing. I sure go outside workshop from now on Sad
