| the more you practice the better you get. whether its throwing a ball or using different technique to judge distance besides pacing, it takes practice. but if you stop the first time you failed, then you have failed. SamT....Annika is known to use a mental system call Heart Math. and thank you Paul for taking the time to decipher my message...and quoting me out of context. the great putters of the world have considerable skills and the mental state is the differentiating factor. Making a good putt for most have always been ( i am said this more than twice) 1. putting skills 2. mental state and 3. ability to read lines. the fundamental of making a good part is still putting skills. you can tell if the golfer is new or not simply by looking at their putting. in the case of someone who have just lost the Masters. their anxiety will haunt them for a while longer. so our local hero is no exception. changing ball position offers a different perspective of aiming and set up. the putting stroke has not changed but the confidence standing over the ball with a square or shut face will produce different constants. here're a couple of charts for reference. i am sure we can go on and on and everyone will have their different takes on putting. i do not advocate changing the putting stroke of my customers, i only alter the tempo, rhythm and pace to give them better control to produce better consistencies. again i say, there is no right or wrong in putting just predictability and consistency. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear is different from when the teacher is ready, the student will appear. this one is a bit chim. have a great week ahead and i am looking forward to a golf game, an important meeting and a good friday break. | Wow, This is a great discussion by pro and good players. With all the respect, for all pro and good players here. I have so much here to say about putting as an small fly ... I do not care whether it is a push, knock, long back swing - short follow or short back swing - long follow ... I just do not want to miss short putt and not get close to the pin in all my long putt .... Once again, I like to repeat myself... With all the respect for the pro and good players comments and methods of about putting here. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you very much to DGman for helping me with my putting just 16 days ago when I am back in Singapore. I did it now !! Eric .. 4 games, my ave putt below 30 putt for every round. Below 30 putt, might not mean allot to other but if you had saw the way I putt before, you will understand. I know I did not do any changes in my golf swings except in changing the way I putt (mentally, the feel, the distance). I am sure I will improve more if I will able to learn to read the green better ( still depend allot with all the Indonesia caddies here hahaha) ... 4 rounds, playing in the 80s look so simple .. I can talk "until the cow come home" . The most important still .. Eric putting method work for me. P/S. Please understand I am not trying to advertise any company or products here and I am sorry if I have hijack someone thread too. Just my personal thank you message to Eric and by showing my sincere to all my friends in GR. Btw, Eric. I do not care whether you like it or not. I have booked my air ticket and coming back end of this April for more | |
