The truth is out. MM lost it on the 16th with the wrong choice of club, all thks to the caddie!

thats why the title of the thread is not "he looks set to win". in golf there is no certainty.

to start, its a tough track and the home crowd is tough to ignore no matter how seasoned you are.

on the final day the pressure is really on and if MM do not have a regular caddie with him, its tough. he needs the someone to share the burden of not just telling him distance and line but also to loosen him and keep him focussed on the task.

looking at the putting stats on the final day, it was probably the pressure and the home crowd support that did him in slowly but surely.

My final SMS on the end of 2nd day was... "there are others who will come close. you only need to focus on your own game plan and blank out what they are doing."

If he had played even par on the final day, the tournament was his to lose. but on the final day when the crowd is rooting for his other 2 flightmates, its easier said than done.

i am sure there will be another one this year and i hope it happens soon.

on a sidenote. its good to see our K user zoom up the leaderboard. well done Prom and also to Atiwit for good showing despite his age.

the Satay party needs to happen soon. i will tell MM when i see him next.

It'd be good if he can bring the caddie along.

I'd personally 'satay' him.

MM says holel 17 is the perfect 7i distance for him.
But his caddie says 6i due to the slight headwind.
Hence MM took 6i but was still uneasy, so he took a easy 6i swing and the ball went right to the rough.

Questions:
Will a normal 7i distance = easy 6i....by swinging easy, would it have resulted in a open club face that sends the ball to the right rough?

I think although he took his caddie advice, inside his heart he's probably not too convince....and hence a half hearted swing prob resuted in a poor shot.

Sigh, so sad for him. But on a positive note, he is definitely playing well. I just hope he has more sponsors and then prob he can have a regular caddie, prob his good friend Mohd Said At least there is someone to talk to him along the way and calm him.

Let's hope he continue to go strength to strength and do Singapore proud.

MM lost the tournament because of the caddy? I thought it was just execution not so good... But how he came up with a double? Water?

Par 3 he hit into right rough
its a tough lie
he managed to put it on the green after 2nd try
So its 3 on liao
He then 2 putted for double

he actually have a chance to tie the play off
his 6 feet uphill birdie putt did not go in
his opponent 10 feet putt went in for birdie

but all in all, its a very good showing liao
hope for more to come
