Sorry man
Korean Cars are just something I would run away from.
They are better at disguising their shortfalls in handling and under-the-bonnet issues nowadays tho with all the pretty bells and whistles.
Drove a leased Accent during my training days in Perth back in 2001. Ultra Crap.
Drove a rented Hyundai Santa Fe in Aust 2006. Yucks.
Drove a Kia Carnival for an Aust road trip in 2007. Ultra Yucks and a fricking heavy drinker.
Sat in my colleague's Picanto. Wah lau eh, death in a box.
There are some things I bet on and Korean cars are not one of them.

Bro, maybe it is time to change, both Kia and Hyundai are employing Europeans designers fro their cars now..and these designers are not kuchin kura designers...they are from top European brands...hehehehe

No man.
Korean and China cars are things I wudn't trust my life upon.
I will rather drive Jap cars even if they are built mostly in Thailand.

Dudes
They are very prevalent here in US. Heck, the i45 is everywhere on the road.
I sat in 1 for a very short trip within the base with newly met coursemates. Not impressed.

Korean build quality is improving, their engines as well, but their handling is still miles behind Japanese makes.

haha...ok..just to share my personal experience...im driving a Hyundai Tuscon for 6 years, bought it brand new...
i was quite skeptical about korean car before i drove this tucson..but my view totally change.
Thru the 6 years, not a single major fault had happen, the timing belt last me up to 100,000km , in which normal belt would only last until 80,000 km, had my brake pad change and so surprise to see the thickness of the brake pad...it was much much thicker than ordinary jap and european car brake pad..my mechanic actually show me the original hyundai brake pad compare to other car brand's brake pad
well, i can say, so far, i'm a happy driver of this tucson, even till now, i cannot find a real valid reason for me to change car..the car is just built to last...hopfully not forever, because sometime, my backside will itch once a while...haha !!!

Thought the Kia Forte's ride was decent and comparable to Altis. Maybe my expectation lower. Not a car expert though....

U see Mr Sim
There are fuss-free drivers out there who just wants to drive without any hassles.
There are more picky drivers like Eiji who considers handling, power, built and price.
There are also some where money is not a problem and the best cars on the road are all affordable to them as long as they are 1 of the 1st few to get them.
Very similar to golf equipment. Some dun mind playing stock off-the-rack clubs. Some wants better fitted clubs and some just wants everything new and expensive.
I just wanna add that I very rarely (not never) see a lousy driver driving a performance car. However, there are tons of crap toyota altis, nissan sunny, hyundai and kia drivers on Sg roads.
Do note that good drivers do not equate to safe or careful so we can't have the best of everything.

about 5 years ago, i said this to my friend,
me: "dont waste money buy STI la, no matter what car you drive in Singapore, ferrari, evo, etc etc, you will never be faster than a Toyota Altis."
friend: "how come leh? Altis can mod so fierce ah?"
me: "no la, you overtake one Altis, you immediately see another Altis in front of you..."

wow..that is one very good point
personally, i think i belong to the fuss-free driver, but yet i wanted some nice view so i chose a so-call 'SUV'...well not really a SUV, but at least it's taller and the driving comfort is there.
Me not a F1 driver lah...so even give me a car that has superb handling, 1000 h-power, super car built..i dun think i will really appreciate all these..
Also i think buying a korean car doesn't equate to buying a cheap and lousy car, because if the car is lousy..i dun think many people would want to buy them...imagin if you swing a golf club and the shaft break after 1 range session...u will $%^^&$%^...no one would wanna buy that club too...an seeing so many korean car on the road, it does tell us something...consumer are smart nowsday
thru my past 12 years of driving experience, actually the worst driver are those driving BMW and Mercedes...and time to time some Evo and WRX trying to show off by creating that 'tsh tsh' sound...MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT !!!...haha !!!
