| LOL....he is creating a job...should praise him.....
what is a disgrace is grown men carrying small handbags (some so small can carry only one HP, one small purse and a packet of tissue) for their ladies .....if need to carry a bag, make sure the bag is large & heavy one lar..so ppl dont think we guys are sissys.
we carry our heavy cart bag from the car park to the golf buggy dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!

| On slightly serious note... may be this is a ignorant question...
In this case, is it illegal or wrong in code of conduct? I mean, the feller is out of camp rite...

| As long as in Uniform, must behave as soldiers...else can get spot check by the Provost or SIB. that's how a few recruits who wear officers emulets were caught.

| aha... who cares...
why such a big deal outta this...
if i could, i would have paid some bangla to do my bloody ns for me... carry bag not enough...
if ppl can afford to have maid then let the maid carry lah...
until they have a law that say one has to carry one's bag then this is perfectly fine...

| i agree with sham..
reading around the blogs, some thoughts strike me. If a runner carry the barang for the CO, that's fine, but not a maid for the NSman. why double standard? the recruit may get a lower pay than the maid (hilarious but may be true) if a soldier is not given respect - he is nothing more than a door gift packer, a carpark attendent.. etc in NS, why should he respect his uniform?
anyway, the life of a civi predominates over the NS stint, we revert back to our habitual ways.. seen maids carry school bags for kids? its a loaded issue from a citizen's point of view and a reservist point of view. where is duty honor country?
in the end, i'm not going to care about this issue. why should i?

| When I was in NS, nobody said I cannot ask maid, mother, brother, GF or buddy to carry my bag for me. Don't know why the article must mention Ministry of defense taking serious view of the conduct of its NS men in public. By law, he didnt do anything wrong but I am not saying that he is correct either. We dont know the background so cannot comment. He cld be attend C home after discharge from hospital for heat injury or just a blardy spoilt kid with no sense of shame or independence. | |

| Anyway, its always double standards. WHen i was in reservist, they say new rule, but wear head dress when you are out of a building. Means walking along the road to bus stop, also must wear. But just last week, i saw a group of officers walking towards arena for lunch, walking 360 720 without headdress.....
Its good to be a civilian.

I agree. Will people post on stomp if I ask my maid to carry my golf bag? I often ask my maid to bring my golf bag down for me to the car where I am waiting to save time to tee off. What about when we go Malaysia or Thailand or Indonesia and we use female caddy to carry our bag? Wrong? Can golf but cannot carry own golf bag?

| "no manners" means he doesnt not respect his stint in the army, the uniform he was wearing and the equipment he was suppose to gear for himself..
he must be a recruit... not in the units yet..
"no manners" is also a kinder description i can give wo being too offensive

| well, sorry but i have to disagree with you...
there is no rule against having some one else carry your bag
and if he so chooses to no have respect for his uniform and the army, that is also his choice and his choice alone...
there is nothing to respect about one's stint in the army, it is as always, a matter of opinion...
