Hi, been thinking is there really any one whom is moving around taking photos of beautiful swing from fellow golfers as well as the beauty of the green...I am into photography and maybe we can gather to capture the best moments of our local golfers.
Do see one very good swing from a friend and wish to capture that moment but too bad...didnt bring along my camera...

I do for par 3s. Doing that for a normal game would probably make me shoot 200 :p

i always keep a compact digicam in my golf bag.
you never know when the "moment" will appear in the golf course.

could be a hole-in-one, eagle on par-5 .... ball hit a monkey ......

but so far, the "moment" has been an unpleasant one to shoot a damaged buggy ... Sad

It may be tough for compact cameras to stop motion fast enough for a friend's swing sequence, may be blurry.

Using a micro 4/3 or dSLR is ideal but the slap of the camera shutter bothers even Tiger (he stops in his backswing when he hears a camera click), so you have to use a nice long zoom lens and those are big and heavy to lug around in an already full golf bag.

Maybe a good compact video camera will do the job best.

No need to carry such a heavy camera around, go get the Leica V-Lux2 latest
zoom lens from 28mm to 620mm equivalent to 35mm focal length.
Has got mutiple shooting mode A, M, S & P to select.

Can out perform many expensive digital SLR...price is around $1450.00..
considering this Compact 35mm. Can slso shoot video.

I got the older series 4 years ago Leica V-Lux1, zoom 35mm to 420mm good
enough to shoot long distance. Battery no problem manufactured by Panasonic
cheap and long lasting. Fantastic Macro for close shots!!

I have used my 1D MK3 for capture golf action image. There are two problems, if using video mode, I cannot see the details since the camera only have 25FPS. The secoend problem is that if you bring that camera with you just for 9 holes, will make you feel very heavy. I am using a Casio FH100 compact camera, it is very light and capture slow motion video (240 FPS till 1000 FPS). Use this video you can see swing action very very clear. From the reply, you can see is there any movement is correct or worng. Hope you can view youtube about this camera and the sample video.

Hi, ak7776, I am using Casio FH100, which for high speed movie part are same as FS160 model. For golf swing, the best is set as 240FPS, you can get very clear slow motion movie. You can see your arm and hands movement during the swing. The only different is that new model F160S have much higher ISO, so that make you even at evening may also can record in high speed mode (have not tried yet). For my FH100, under normal daylight, can get very good result. For price, if you can go to HK, the prewoned price is about S$280.00 (which current in Singapore local market at least S$690.00). I am sure this FS160 will be more expensive. If have time let me know, can record your swing. haha Very Happy

Bro YM

Thanks for your offer! would really want to if have to chance. I always thought of getting one. but of course must be affordable and viewable in slow mo playback. Becuz i think our swing will "evolve" at different times, so must record quite often. Might be too paiseh to ask you record swing so often..Smile anyways, is your FH100 bulky? must b ex too right?

Hi, ak

It is quite small, you can bring it with you when practice or on course. Other than high speed movie, HD video and 10X zoom also are good points. If you have some friends in HK, can let them serach from http://www.dcfever.com/, under preowned section, you can see it. for just a bit old (less than 1 year design), you can get it less the half price, why buy that new one and the function you need are same? My one I got less than S$300.00. Now everyday with me.
