Bangalore Golf Club - Review + Pics

Had a chance to visit the indian IT city of BLR recently for work and squeeze in a round of 18hole at Bangalore golf club. This is Par-70, 6000yrds course located approx 40mins from BLR airport

Green Fees for 18 holes: 1200 INR (approx sgd 28) - dirt cheap
Caddy Fee: 300-400 INR (sgd 7-10 bucks)

Run-down entrance, no grand signages like TMCC or SICC


Starter-area next to Pro Shop


Improvised 3-Bay driving range, next to start area, you can warm up before you head to tee-box


1st hole, Blue Tee Box Par 5
this is view from Blue Tee box, very interesting hole, fairway narow, you have to tee across the car-park and carry in order to land on Fairway. I suspect they ran out of space when building carpark, then decide to build a small elevation/hill behind the car-park for blue tee and erect netting to protect cars. Indian ingenunity


Fairway is well kept but rough is not exactly forgiving, greens are fast and tricky

Looks like a classic old course, being well kept and having fast greens are a bonus. Great value!

I used to go there a lot but golf was the farthest thing fr my mind. Arrive, meetings, briyani masala, sleep, repeat.

but this time round stay at Le Meridien BLR which is directly opposite to BGC, hence on the day before flying home, decided to play and try

It was a good experience, my playing partner was the club in-house Pro trying to secure his India Tour card for 2013, young skinny chap but he hits 8-iron 165 yards, so you can imagine what a great learning lesson!

Never had a chance to play there..

If u hav more time, theres another good
Golf course at 1.5hrs drive from meridien.
Called eagleton golf course at Bidadi town.

& lastly, the indian food there are really damn nice! Haha!

They are assuming golfers that tee off from the blue tee box wont hit an errant / duff the driver?

if duff driver, no way to re-pick the ball, esp if it lands on the netting above the cars, tee it up again and try again

I played there many, many years ago and it is a bit different now.

I stayed at Gateway (or something like that) Hotel along MG Road.

In hotel, only have Hindi channels on a Onida TV and fly domestic by Modiluft (JV between Modi India and Lufthansa), one of the better airlines then.

i been to BGL few x but didnt think of golfing there.

interesting 1st hole. imagine u wanna tee off n a driver use his car remote lock which gives out a sound when u lock it!
