New Pro V1 provides the exceptional distance and durability that golfers have counted on, and now delivers increased spin control and a more consistent flight. This advanced performance results from a new innovative ZG process core technology, responsive ionomeric casing layer, urethane elastomer cover and spherically tiled 352 tetrahedral dimple design. This new 352 dimple pattern with five different dimple sizes (previous generation had 392 dimples) has more surface coverage and 3 axes of symmetry. These new aerodynamics deliver a penetrating ball flight that holds its line in the wind.

Delivering very low spin off the driver and long irons, New Pro V1x provides longer distance and a more consistent flight along with its renowned Drop-and-Stop greenside control. A four-piece multi-component design, Pro V1x features a large, high velocity dual core with a soft center, responsive ionomeric casing layer, urethane elastomer cover and a new spherically tiled 328 tetrahedral dimple design (previous generation had 332 dimples). This high coverage dimple pattern with seven different dimple sizes has three axes of symmetry and produces a higher trajectory for Pro V1x's longer distance and a consistent flight that cuts through windy conditions. The Pro V1x retains its urethane elastomer cover for soft feel and durability.

PLAYER VALIDATION

Prior to any Titleist high performance golf ball introduction, Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x are tested and validated across the worldwide professional tours, with club professionals and better playing amateurs. The New Pro V1 and New Pro V1x golf balls found instant acceptance and success when seeding began at the McGladrey Classic in October, when 22 players trusted the new models. Bo Van Pelt (Pro V1/T6), Webb Simpson (Pro V1x/T12) and Steve Marino (Pro V1x/T15), all finished in the Top 15.

I'd love to support Singapore golf retailers, but could not justify buying ProV1s here when it's only US$40-45 at Titleist's home market. Especially given today's exchange rate.

What are the shafts for the 910f and the 910h?

Had the privilege to test out the prototype of this ball when Titleist SEA passed me a couple of sleeves to try out.

Here is an honest review of the new Pro V1X:

Distance
Definitely gets it out there. Even in the wet and muddy conditions Kranji was besieged with due to tons of rain over the last week, a decent poke leaves me with the same distance for 2nd shots into the green as compared to normal drier conditions. It was all carry and no run due to the soggy conditions.

Spin
I have to add that I have been trying out new CC wedges so I do not have a bench mark to compare it with the old ball used with my old wedges but although its suppose to give more, I do not see any markedly increase than the usual amount. However, it was still controllable enough to get my chips and pitches decently close.

Trajectory
My Adams Pro Black MBs do hit the ball higher than my other set of irons. This ball with the irons goes as high if not slightly higher. With my CC wedges where shots are suppose to be higher still due to the lack of traction with smaller grooves, the ballflight is manageable enough to get it sitting down after landing which is the problem with us amateurs using CC clubs. Also with the increase in height, flight doesn't look too affected even when playing into the wind.

Feel
Not much difference on Driver and iron shots. I was using a new Odyssey putter too and it felt the same as the old ball for putts. Distance control on the greens was very good though. A nice soft click without feeling too mushy.

Durability
This is where I think the ball was improved the most. After 9 holes on the back nine( I drove it into the water on the 1st) the ball was almost scuff-free with a few minor scratches. I was pleasantly surprised as I did thin a couple of shots but the ball was unscathed. The 2nd ball used for the rest of the back nine came off pretty well too.

Alignment
I went back to putting with no alignment aid usage of the ball so the alignment aid was of no use to me. Titleist went back to using the old markings before the previous design and I think they can't go wrong with that.




No matter what the situation, I always go back to the ball I trust the most when the game matters a lot and that has been the Pro V1X for the past 2 years. I have tried Callaways, Srixons, TM Penta and Bridgestones and although they are very very good balls that give Titleist good competition, Pro V1Xs will be the one I put my money on when overall performance matters.

Given the price of them are pretty high, I still hope for the day where ball prices here will be comparable to what we find in the USA where its more affordable.

Thanks to Rick and the team for allowing me to try out their new offering. I am impressed with the improvements of what is an already very very good product.
