Hi Bomby we are about sama sama + - a couple of balls. Played with a beginner friend once who brought maybe 3/4 balls and within 3 holes started borrowing balls from me. Never gotten asked to play with me from there on and the reason was not because he was a beginner. As a beginner they should know that the courses eat balls one.. Some does it better than others. I once also need to below ball... That is because the I na rush, the balls are in the duffle bag, not in the golf. Reach 1st tee then realize. From then on I make sure 20 balls in golf bag and another two sleeve i duffle bag. Just in case.

Now I gotta find some lobang for 2nd hand balls. Lowest price that I'd found for 2nd hand balls is 3 for $1. When Golf Direct is selling new balls which worked out $0.67/ new ball, I decided to stock em up instead of using 2nd hand balls. Me too... I bought 5 boxes at a go. Not particular with brand/type as I hv not reached a level to be able to discern feel, roll etc. of a ball... Golfjoy, u may wish to consider buying the coloured balls. Easier to identify and not so "heart pain" when losing them.

| Bring many many (10-12).....that will put yr mind at ease with regards to losing ball....and when you play.....you will find that you did not need so many. On the contrary, if you bring 1-3 balls, half the time you'd be worrying about not having enuf balls to go with...then it becomes self-fulfilling, and then you really go out and lose all 3 balls. Out there on the course, the no. of balls should be yr least concern and terribly easy to out to ease by bringing many balls. More impt is bringing back the 2 most impt ones after the 18 holes. | |

| For my first time on the green this year I lost about 18 balls. After that I vowed to make it a point to stock up at least 20 second hand balls whenever I play. For a beginner like me, the gauge is not the number of strokes (I don't update the scorecard), but the number of balls lost - proud to say it has gone down to 5 balls the last time. | |

| Hi golfjoy, I think you can bring like 10plus then if u are gg in to JB courses to play, you can get it there as well... normally ard 10RM per 10 balls. can choose brand some more.. =) they normally sell at the 9-10 hole area.. else u can get some nsrcc ppl to help buy the used balls.. i heard its like 20cents per ball.. if im not wrong.. I recall me lost like 10-20 balls during my first game. mainly coz i was too lazy to look for my balls and i did not pay attention to where my ball fly to.. so if u dun wanna lose too many balls, do keep in sight where ur ball fly to.. hope this help.. | |

| hi Golfjoy, in singapore, you can buy those second hand balls @ S$0.50. I used to carry something like 20 balls, so lost also not so sayang. but then again, it became a bad habit, i don't bother to look for balls and declare them lost at will. in order to curb my bad habits, i started using brand new balls and that hurts. yes, S$0.50 versus $2.50. i make more conscious effort to see where my ball lands and then retrieve it. lost is a real lost if i cannot find within 5 minutes or i think there is a cobra lurking behind the tall grass. for new balls, i am not particular about brand. the only requirement is i buy low compression type, usually denoted in 'red', ie: a 1,2,3,4,5 and so on. suitable for people like me with slower swing speed. happy golfing. | |

| wah..just saw this thread...keke
golfjoy, take 1 ball enough liao lah, u wnt lost the ball lah (ball only roll 30m, wanna lost also difficult), but must remember to take umbrella, then walk 18 holes, no need to sit buggy (ball only roll 30m, distance too short to sit buggy)...haha !!!!!
JUST KIDDING LAH !!!
buy 2nd hand balls, as many as possible, so that i can use also...haha !! but must be mindful that after all these balls go into your bag, you must still be able to carry the bag hor .....haha !!

| how many balls?
If you are taking a buggy, as many as you can fit into your bag. After your first few games, you will get a feel of how many you need.

| I managed to walk my 9 holes with 2 'MIA' Balls. I will bring a dozen to start off the game. Sometimes, along the course, you will be lucky enough to spot some stray balls.

| I think over my last few games, I lose about 10-20 balls per game... So i always keep my bag stocked up with 20-30 balls (insurance lah).
Now hoping to improve enough not to lose so many balls at a go... (also makes bag lighter!)

| I remember longtime ago, i was with my friend playing 27 holes in Austin Hill... being with golf about a year,, i recall he lost >40 balls while i lost>10 balls. and the last ball we had to search and search till we find the ball to play on..haha... it was fun.. therefor i really think it depend on the course and the player too.... like the orgasm for low score , birdies, eagle... for new players ... they will also get orgasm when they played the whole game(18 holes) with only 1~2 balls. | |
