If people have visited India before, then these pics need not be such a huge cultural shock. I was at a few of their int airports, the sink in the toilets is not white loh. Also this year I've been to chennai a few times and although they built some new highways, I thot I always see the same pile or dirt, pipes, etc left on one lane on the highway.

They typically dun build pedestrian pavements next to their roads, so they always take up half a lane for walking. Now I understand why serangoon road in little India, the ppl like to walk along the roads.

Hmm, guess some parts of the world is not ready for india yet. I recalled many years back when I got ready for my first biz trip to Bangalore, my Indian nationals colleagues prepared me by warning me that India may feel like another planet. And just imagine Bangalore is considered one of the 'better' Indian city

but if one can look beyond the filth and chaotic traffic, India is culturally very rich, food is awesome too. But holding an international sports event, most would expect basic hygiene factors to be addressed.

It must be heartbreaking as a professional athlete to train so hard and wait so long for a major event like this, to find that they may not be able to compete, or may have their preparation compromised.

I know worse things in the world happen, but for those guys they might not have another shot at such glory

That's why the minister said " What may appear clean for us may not be clean for others"

That's quite bad, but I've seen worse.

I think the games will continue but countries will end up paying loads more for high-end hotel accommodation and longer commutes to the game locations (if that is possible).

The only possible thing is that NZ will use SG as a holding ground. It was reported in the newspaper today. Also in such a short frame we will not be ready for the CWG. It took 2 years to prepare for YOG so i dun think its feasible for CWG to be held here.

That may be their game plan all along. Trying to fleece more money out from the CWG commitee...

So sad that one of the Super Powers have to resort to this kind of tactics.
