kian dont touch that...its a tuning fork. besides the frequency, it does nothing else but increase your swing weight and it does not promote flow-motion.

if you are constantly putting short, you may want to look at 3 things..

1. the length of the putter
2. the frequency (stiffness) of the shaft, especially if your putter has an insert
3. the shape of your putter.

if you are putting off line, you may want to consider 2 things...

1. the face balance of your putter
2. your putting routine.

and finally if you are putting close but not making birdies, you may want to do one thing...

1. get someone who is willing to teach you how to make putts.

Slinger had a quick lesson on monday and he got rid of this push, learn the read the greens better and make more putts. some say its buaya but i think his renewed confidence in his putter helped.

One of my golf buddy recently got one from the internet and fitted it with a 20bucks putter head. Told me better than his berti or scotty... I dun know much about golf equipment, just happy that he is happy. Anyway, buy and try lor, I am sure it is quite inexpensive.

gettng the right lie (with the right length) sets you in the correct eye over putter head position immediately and it also ensures that your grip and wrist position in check...

JC...you are the technical trainer and you should be the one making the statement.

DGman

looks like i have to try a UST on a aluminum putter head...never tried the combination.

I think I do have some technical stuff to smoke all of you Twisted Evil

Here it go,

5 key factors that affect the performance of a putter,

1) Length - Proper length promote correct posture and swing
2) Lie - correct lie give better accuracy
3) Loft - correct loft give the ball the required lift from it's stationally position
4) Swing weight - proper swing weight give a better control on distance
5) MOI - Higher MOI offer better forgiving on off center hit

good putt

Bro Sam, MOI don't apply to you lah.... you always hit the ball on the sweet spot one cheers
I don't think I can explain MOI very well, I will just briefly describe it in my very jialat ingalish, Embarassed
When you contact a ball away from the sweet spot - usually but not necessary center of putter face, the putter will either be push open or close at impact and the ball will not go to the intented line of putt, the ball travelling distance will be reduced as well. A higher MOI putter will minimize the effect.

Yes, usually it is but it's very much depend on the design itself.
A blade is usually a low MOI putter.

You're talking about MOI measured about what axis?
Sounds like you're just talking about MOI of the putter head design?
If you consider the putting stroke/swing as the true axis of rotation, the MOI readings should take that axis into account?
More like a "swing feel" measurement?

Actually I dunno what I'm talking about lah...hahahaha albino

Master SS, I dunno what axis lah, dunno what MOI reading also leh..... pale
My understanding is just very simple one,
High MOI = More forgiving
Low MOI = Less forgiving
Anyway, I did a google on the MOI thingy and found the following from Golfwork,
http://www.golfworks.com/article.asp?ai=169&bhcd2=1282580885
I try to read it but half way fall asleep Sleep Razz

helos technical trainer...

MOI is not a measurement for forgiveness...its a measurement for resistance to twisting...

simple analogy...(look up dictionary, it means 比喻 in chinese, which i know you don't particularly excel).

you are a policeman who is trying to handcuff 2 suspects.

one is eiji - weigh under 60 kg and height 5 ft 8 inches, skinny.

two is shamusan - weight about 110 kg and height 6 ft 2 inches, forearms like eiji tights.

from a MOI perspective (the resistance to twisting)...who will rate as high MOI and who will rate as low MOI?

from a putter perspective, the reason why people choose low MOI and high MOI are the same conceptually.

pure unaided true stroke - low MOI
easy back and forth, guided stroke - high MOI

in this case the theory of MOI is not one by feel..meaning if the person closes his eyes there is absolutely no impact of MOI. its purely visual.

hope this helps to confuse you more JC.....

hmm..sorry, need to ask a very silly question again.

Usually I encounter MOI mentioned on Driver, u know like some 'Square Head' driver having higher MOI, more resistance to twist thus it is more forgiving on a 'non sweet spot' hit.

However, for a putter case, where very little force is applied, does twist still matter ? or does it twist at all ?

high MOI does not mean its easier to hit the sweet spot, its a marketeer promise. off centre hits can be made less prominent is a result of gear effect on the face of the club.

there is no twist in real terms...the twist is a visual occurrence. thats why i say when you close your eyes, there is no difference...read carefully Mr Sim.

let me put forth another theory to make you scratch your head more...

imagine instead of a 460 cc driver head, we now build a driver thats just one inch thick from face to the back instead of 4 inches like most driver. also its built like a hockey stick rather than like a driver.

but the weight, built and perimeter distribution of impact weight are scientifically built like a 460 cc driver...will you still achieve the same distance if you hit it the same way?

of course most golfers will have problems hitting this cos its unconventional but if you give it to a hockey, he will have less mental resistance...

now if we can find a robot, we can put the theory to test...haha
