That was such as stupid ruling on D. Johnson.... that damn "bunker" wasn't even part of the 18th hole! Just looked like any sandy patch or GUR in SEA courses.

Mixed Feelings....

Tiger - For starting great today and then melting away.

Phil - A great final round.

Dustin Johnson - For 2 heartbreaks in a year, both cruel.

Nick Watney - For self destructing on the front nine today.

Bubba - The long-hitting crybaby who almost had it today.

Steve Elkington - For almost turning back time.

Rory Mcilroy - Missing out by a shot by playing even par.

Martin Kaymer - For a great win and a great tournament even with the last hole 'distractions'.

Bar the fact that it cost the poor guy the playoff, I dont see anything controversial about the ruling itself. At the start of the tournament, the players were advised via posters in the locker room and through the local rules sheet the following:

I am pleased that Kaymer won, a victory of good sensible golf as opposed to these ridiculous wild bombers that all to often are placed higher up the leaderboard then their technical skill merits...

tiger - improvement spotted and making cut is BIG, who cud have known he stooped so low
rory - nice swing for youngsters to learn from, but without self-belief, no chance
kaymer - composure won the day, more to come, like Langer
bubba - not major quality from the rough, but entertaining drives
dustin - 3rd time lucky?
Liang - still waiting for the day he putts well, rest of game is quality stuff as always
watney - he talked himself out after 3rd round
phil - more burgers please
garcia, rose, harrington, poulter, and the other stars bla bla bla - more troubles for Monty ahead of Ryder, good ol USA has a real chance for once in europe

Phils been a vegetarian for 2 months.....

I also believe that garcia rose and harrington arent actually on the team with the points standings as they are currently.... and poulter was Ill. Most European fans are fairly confident over this one and the players are always completely up for it and one of the qualified players has just won a major, making that 2 of 4 euro major winners this year. Obviously I am a little biased given my nationality but it should be an interesting match....

Great to see Martin win, he's been toughing it out there for years. Looks like hard work is paying off for many long-timers who have been plugging away, like Louis O, Bubba Watson, and now Martin Kaymer, with the only exception being Phil, who won the Masters this year. Not quite the year of the rookie, but it's good to see 'everyone else' like Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Camilio Villegas, Juryk, Justin Rose, and Matt Kuchar come up on the charts

Rules should align with common sense. Otherwise why bother to include the PING I2 in the non-confirming list early this year? To me, Dustin was rob. I never knew that Golf is a game where you gota call an official to check if that sand patch is a bunker or not...you want to place a bunker there, make it look like one. There is no such problem with other PGA tour event we see every week, that should say much.

A stupid rule yes, but since it was already announce and made known to all the professional players. It should still stand until they revise the rule for the next PGA Major held there, else it would be inconsistent and unfair to the other participants.

In this case, if there was even a shadow of a doubt, being a professional like them and having the title on the line here, I think it would not had hurt DJ if he had checked with an official before addressing his shot. That said I am full of praise for his reaction and graciousness.

Golf's rules book is not the easiest to understand... some will not really make sense... one of the article on holes dug by burrowing animals.... you have to be a CSI and determine the hole is dug by a burrowing animal first before you can get free relief.... meaning if a dog dig the hole... you have no relief

Actually I think the fault for the Dustin's episode are attributed to:

1. The fan for stepping on the patch of ground

2. The organizer for not reading the rules to the golfers...don they know that the new GenY listen to podcast more.....

3. The walking umpire for not being bias and tell the golfer that it is an infringement...this is macam in soccer...asking the referee to tell the defender not to tackle fm behind inside the penalty box

3. the creator of the golf course, for making it too difficult

4. The caddie for not reading the rules. Doesn't he know that golfer is suppose to swing only....Ask Robert Rock...he even need his caddie to go on all fours to read line

5. The stupid shot Dustin pull which resulted in him being in that situation....must be the lack of wind .

End of the day, its not the golfer's fault .....since the rules was not agreed by him.
