| I average 65 on tiger woods 2009 for psp. Won all majors + players, avg 1.7 putts, 300+ yards drive, hit the 1 iron and can shape shots right left on demand. It helps our confidence, doesnt it? | |

5year goal: single handicap goal for the coming year: no more than 2 triple bogey, 4 dble bogeys per game.
current goal: drive straight, i tend to block my driver which results in slices and more consistency with irons, i hit a lot of fat shots
Wah Nic.. very ambitious leh. " no more than 2 triple bogey, 4 dble bogeys per game. " Even Tiger recently triple bogey twice during the competition in a game. Don't set too high an expectation and you won't get disappointed so often you know. Unless you are trying to turn pro in the near future, other wise, don't have to be so hard on yourself. I prefer to do what Pushslice asked for. More practical. But actually for me, can play golf happy enough liao la. Good company to enjoy the moment for 4 1/2 hrs. Whatever the scores, I am happy to be playing with good companies. Just being me I guessed.
titu Acutally Titu, I think Eiji's goal is quite reasonable. Basically it looks like he is trying to avoid big blowup holes and focusing on playing to his ability. If 2 triples, 4 doubles and 12 bogeys (=26 over or 98), the final score can still break 100.

Ranging once a week, hitting 200 balls without purpose and playing once a month is realistically not enough for big improvement.
Set realistic goals based on the time and effort you devote to the game. Most of all have fun and enjoy the opportunity.
As for pro and low H/C players (0-4), a rough guide would be 3 x 18 holes per week, 1000 balls at range and 5-6 hours on shortgame per week. Do this for many years and you may achieve this level.
There is also the talent and physical and mental characteristics that are needed.
Paul, How to achieve better mental characteristics for golf ? I know I can drive. I know I can hit irons, and so does putting. But then my confidence are quite low, so the consistency of my games is rather low. Zhenxua aka Ivan always told me that my mental confidence are quite low, which I couldn't disagree more. Physical is something that I'm lacking too. 18 holes I'm tired, played 27 before and I'm half dead. Golf is just so damn tough for some.

PLS read.....the only downside, you might approach and play golf like me.......(faint) this is good! - I will trust myself and my swing on every shot. I don't have absolute control of where the ball goes. I do have absolute control of whether I trust myself.
- I will execute my preshot routine on every shot.
- I will stay in the present. I won't speculate in the middle of the round about what my score will be, or where I'll stand in the tournament. I'll stop worrying about breaking 90, 80 or 70. I will not critique or analyze the shots I've taken. I will focus on each shot as it comes, and that will be the only shot I'll care about. When it's over, I'll see how I did.
- I will refuse to allow anything that happens on the golf course today to bother me or upset me. I will accept bad breaks and mistakes and be tough in adversity. I am going to be in a good mood and a great state of mind for the entire round today. I'll enjoy playing.
- I will trust my instincts and be decisive and committed.
- I will get looser freer and more confident as the round goes on, resisting the urge to get tighter, more careful and doubtful.
- I will love my wedge and putter today.
- I will let it go to my target on every shot.
- I will maintain a constant, ideal level of intensity on every shot.
- I will play to play great.

So does gym exercise. So now I've given up on gaining weight after trying hard for the last 10 years or so.

Golf is just so damn tough for some. Dave, mental confidence for the game you can have if you belive in yourself. i remember i played with you as your buggy mate, there was aranda hole 5, second shot from left bunker after your tee off shot landed in there... about 150-160m from the green. from where you stood, you cannot see the green, and the stance was not that great and the ball was near the uphill lie at the lip of the bunker. i told you just aim and hit the ball, i watch the ball for you. then you just swing and the ball flew and flew and flew... and it stuck on the green.. to produce such a great shot.. for someone who plays over 100, i cannot believe.. bro you got it in you.. may the force be with you..
