Winston, don't sell yourself short even though you are a beginner. I can only tell you to head down and try the putter for yourself. Anyone can feel and see the difference, bring down your own putter to compare is the best. Even if you don't buy a ZEN, I'm betting you will walk away with more knowledge about putting then when you first walked in, and with an improved putting stroke. But only if you talk to the grumpy looking guy in specs. Don't worry, he only looks it and sounds it, but actually like the grandpa in the movie "UP".

By the way, not all putters with horizontal lines are the same hor (I have a ZEN and Rife to compare). Each have patented their horizontal line technology. Yes have their own semi circle grooves that 'lifts' the ball, Rife have their polymer filled grooves that grip the ball to 'lift' it. TaylorMade has AGSI anti -skid polymer filled grooves.

Zen's technology is Reduced Dimple Error (RDE), meaning that the dimples of a golf ball cause inconsistent contact with the putter face and the grooves reduce that error and at the same time has some gear effect on the ball if you strike off-centre. Ask the grumpy guy to explain what gear effect is.

Contrary to Yoda who said "Do or do not, there is no try." You can try and then decide to do or do not at BFG.

Mizzy, the Anser came out in 1966 la. The first putter was the 1A, that one I think no more in production. It worked but didn't look like much. Doubt if it will still move in the shops today looking the way it did.

My friend's dad had one when I was a kid, and it did make that distinctive "PING" sound. Very loud for a putter. Can say it was the putter equivalent of the Nike Sumo driver in terms of sound.

Yah, every winner gets a gold plated model of the putter they used, engraved with the tournament they won. And the company keeps a replica. You can google to see the pic of how many thousands they have, looks like a wine cellar with putters instead of bottles.

I would most certainly like to walk into BFG and try it. BUt a bit difficult as I am based in HCMC leh. Unless the "Grumpy Old Man" decides to set up shop here in HCMC.

Nope. Need to dig thru storeroom to find it. It is somewhere. Last time I used it was 2 yrs back.
