Running out of right arm means that the right arm straightens too early prior to impact.
Just as you don't your elbow fully extended when you punch someone, its the same thing with the golf swing.

The pivot in very uncomplicated terms is "that"which is from knees to the chest.

Hi Golf Guru,

Is the bent right arm more applicable to Hitters? since the power comes from pushing/hitting?

Does Swingers have more dominant left arms?

sorry for these amateurish questions, hope to learn more from you sir. Very Happy

The bent right arm at impact is applicable for both hitting and swinging.
Remember, instead of having a right arm that is straight at impact, you want a right arm that is straightening through impact.

When you punch through a watermelon, you punch THROUGH it, not at it.
It is the same with golf.

A true swinger uses the pivot and the ensuing "centrifugal force" to throw the arms and club out at the ball.
Swingers should feel like they do not use the hands to hit the ball.
Any attempt to smack the ball will cause uneven acceleration and the clubhead to go out of orbit (off plane clubshaft)

This is the reason I choose to hit, where I can really muscle the ball. Its easier to do something than nothing (pure swinging).

Eh, TGM, care to explain more as its seems more confusing now....

Well many pivot compartmentalize pivot action into either:

1) Turning of the Shoulders
2) Turning of the Hips

If you can think in turns of turning the hips together with the shoulders and squeezing the groins together past impact, you would have understood proper golf pivot action.

For your playing partners it will be when you start hitting the ball where you are aiming - all the time.

Its basically how one accelerates the club.

Imagine a bicycle tire.

If you swing, you are basically accelerating the tire by pulling on the rim.
If you hit, you are acclerating the tire by pushing against the spokes.

Thanks for your patience and time to answer my questions.

so I guess for swinger, "forget the arms" is the way to go.

Is a Hitter less dependent on pivot? since the action is driven by the arms?

Whether hitting or swinging, both are dependent on the pivot.
The pivot is a launching pad and back up support for the Hitter.
The pivot is the massive rotor, supplying angular momentum for the Throw Out power transfer for the Swinger.

For you at the moment, I would say, just feel 'oily' in the swing and don't have any hitting impulse.
