| Hi GolfJoy...
For some apparent reason, whichever set you are looking at, there might be asian & US spec. US Spec in SG is generally priced higher than asian spec.
US Spec configuration can be different from asian spec. Mind sharing which set of irons you were looking at?

....Wanted to confirm something. Checked the iron... it's no. 7!! Strange?? It's 8 on the net. Staff showed me catalogue, it states 8 too.
.....Very siannnnn Well there are sets that are a total of 7 clubs (4-PW) and also of 8 clubs (3-PW) even though they are of the same model. It depends on what the store brought in. If it's total 7 clubs... it's cheaper... if it's 8 clubs it's more expensive even if both are US Specs... Cheers

| Yupz, check the total number of clubs. There are difference in the same sets for some brands. Some they do not carry the full set till sand and approach and thus cheaper. I was one of the victim 1 month plus ago too T_T. | |

| Hi Golfjoy: I think the set composition is different for US and Japan set. From the Callaway website (US & Japan): US Set: 1W, 5W, 6H, 7H, 8I, PW, SW, Putter Japan Set: 1W, 5W, 6H, 7I, 9I, PW, SW, Putter Noticed that US set has a 7 hybrid & 8 iron whereas Japan is 7 iron & 9 iron. I might be wrong but this is what I have gathered from the 2 websites. Maybe you should get the salesperson to show you both catalogues or ask them to confirm the above. PS. There is no need to mention names, cos Callaway and golf shop with many branches already enough clue.

| End of the day, we have also to be alert. Like the person i bought my irons from told me their package is better priced. Which i walked around and found out yes it was. So after that i went back to buy, the lady did told me that the irons was from 4-p which i thought that is also the standard stuff. And thus i bought the set only to find out that no A-S wedge. In anycase, she did tell me but did not mention to me that other sets will come with A and S wedge, though i did tell her i am a newbie and do not know clubs and such at all. | |

| Haha...I think I know the shops you mentioned. They have lots of unprofessional staff but some are ok. I can remember looking for a set of iron some years ago and the staff just walk to me and point me to a set of iron telling me "This set suit you!" without even ask me what's my level or swing speed. This is the very sad Singapore golf industry standard loh.....if this sales guy know more than that, he would want to be a Pro liao. | |

The set I saw at the 1st branch was a Japan set and was selling at X dollars. But same set I saw at 2nd branch selling at X+Y dollars. Then why did staff say it is US set when I question him the difference in pricing?!?!? Haizzz....
OK lah. Don't bother le. Just gotta be careful lorr .... See how my mood this evening or tomorrow. IF good, then I go get. Pay extra Y dollars also no problem.
Thank you eden for the wonderful clarification!!
And thanks all for your help!!!

| Since you have a coach, you can also ask him or her to tell you how to differentiate or bring you to their pro shop to look if there are stocks. At least your coach should not try to cheat or fake you since they may not earn anything from recommending you also. | |

Or at least that's what i learnt. My friend keep telling me putter dun rush, go test out more before you buy. Will be going testing after i learn my putting in 3 weeks time.

| Actually u dun hv to start with a complete set... can just buy a set of irons... in future when u wan to change driver, will you mind the driver being different from the rest of the set? The driver may look like a odd one out and some ppl dun like it and end up change the whole set away.
If the company you want to buy from has alot of branches and gave you different pricing, write to their head office to check with them and also tell them what you encountered, they should be able to help you arrange. This is what I did when I was looking for my putter, write to the main office since the sales staff in 3 outlets seems reluctant to help.
Dun think we talking abt the same company
