| These are a few lessons i've learned from playing with my friends who are just starting out or are just plain crap: 1. Stop praying over the ball.....hit it already.....you're not going to hit it any better 2. Practice swings are meant for the driving range 3. If you're not constipated, stop squatting on the green for so long 4. Blades are for beginner skaters and not beginner golfers 5. Your best shot happens once out of every 10 shots, please take a longer club...in fact take 2..you'll thank me later 6. Stop comparing yourself against PGA players, start looking at LPGA players, they're better looking and they're still better than us 7. Tuition fees are a rite of passage, do not complain...and you will learn better course management if you are betting... 8. Any fool with money can buy the latest and the greatest golf gear....that just makes you a rich fool....and i'm happy to take your money on the course 9. If you have trouble bending over to tie your shoelaces please, for the love of all that is good in this world, do not buy slim fit or JL clothing...loose fit is your friend 10. Only clean the bottom of your shoes, having dirty shoes means you actually get out and play golf, not just hittting the driving range.... | |

| Sorry, just read the title of the post and decided to offer some proper tips: 1. Recognise how far you hit each iron and be realistic about reaching the green in regulation....If you are able to hit any club, be it a 7 iron or a 7 wood, 150m consistently, you will be able to reach all par4's in 3... 2. Stop spending all your time hitting driver at the range...spend at least, if not more, 50% of your time practising shots 30m-110m because you can't just use your normal swing to hit that...it's the hardest shot in golf for a beginner 3. Stop flipping your wrists when chipping....the loft on your club will get the ball in the air without any help 4. Find consistentcy with your shot, be it left-right or right to left then compensate...if it's left to right (a fade or a slice) like mine, I always aim left fairway (remember not to aim into trouble in case a miracle happens and the ball goes straight) so that the ball has the entire fairway to fade/slide back to.. 5. Faint heart never f**ks big..i.e. never leave a putt short....leaving it 3 feet past is the same as leaving it 3 feet short but at least you had a chance.... 6. Pause at the top of your backswing....this will stop you from rushing your swing 7. Putting is the easiest shot to improve on...spend more time practising it... 8. When buying a club, just remember this.....light is good, more loft is good, jap specs are good, anything with 'TW' on it is bad for you, anything with 'Tour' on it is bad for you | |
