Does a hybrid and a fairway wood (say 19*) give about the same distance, assuming all else remains equal.

the length of shaft on a FW is longer than that of a equal lofted hybrid.

I believe its got a lot to do with physics. M1 x A1 = M2 x A2?

Where M1= Mass of Club head and M2 is Mass of ball.

Since fairway wood have a larger mass, the Mass x Acceleration (assuming no change in swing speed) will be higher for wood.

Hence, the energy transfer will be higher when it hits the ball.

Sounds logical?

My 2 cents

Get clubs to fill the distances you need and you can hit and not getting them for the sake of getting or when people say "you should have"
