| OT abit here,
my mum has a stuck finger.. when she closes her fist and opens it again, the middle finger is stuck.. ie she has to use alot of force (she claims) to spring it back to its original position.. and i have also tried it before, when the finger is bent, and i use my hand to lift it up, there is this spring-like resistance to it..
u know what i am talking about? so which would u recommend KopiO? i know this sounds a bit kuku, but i am serious here... cos previously i have brought her to a chinese sinseh in yishun, what he did was a little accupuncture and blood-letting to clear the accupoint, but the problem still persists.

| Yup, sounds like trigger finger, my folks suffered it before. Relatively simple surgical procedure to make small slit to relieve it. Maybe you should bring your mom to see ang moh doctor... | |

i see.. my mum is quite adverse to ang moh doctors in the sense of the surgical procedures required.. she is quite skittish when it comes to cuts and bloods etc.. but perhaps it sounds like a good idea.. thanks for letting me know the name of this symptom, at least i will be able to explain it to her.. haha.. all she does is complain everyday about the finger, next time in the den show u guys a video.. haha..

| MT,
Checked with my friend. His finger recovered about 90% liow.
He went for tui na, but was not convinced about going thru the continual treatment. So, he went to a western specialist instead, who x-rayed and found the tendon to be twisted. The finger was put into a cast (can be removed during shower) to stretch and set the tendon back for a period, and his condition is improved (so far). No surgery involved.
if you want, i can get the contact from him.
Sorry for the off-topic, but i felt your mum's prob is not straight foward, like a sprain or dislocation, and therefore, i m not comfortable with a recommendation. I also do not buy the "letting blood" method - again, TCM is a wide field. I have one acupunturist here in jurong east (ok std), 2-3 "tui na" and 1 "zheng gu", plus a couple who are into prescibing chinese medicine - all i personally tried.
