| HI
Anyone used these clubs before? Graphite shaft, r-flex. Any comments? Saw a 2nd hand set and thinking of getting it.

| Also considering the Mizuno JPX irons but that cost $100 more.
I am more of a beginner, 30 years, 1.71m. Thanks for any advise.

| Do not have experience with any of these 2 models but they seem like fairly old models to me.
Not sure how much you've been quoted for these but in my opinion you would probably be better off with a slightly more recent model and benefit from the newer game improvement technology much needed for beginners.
Hope my 2 cents worth of advice is of help to you.

| $550 and $650. Seems like very limited graphite shafts out there? I looked at the callaway x series but all steel shafts. | |

These are irons set only right? Think you better re-consider as I think they are slightly over-priced. Take your time and do not rush and regret later. Deals will come by every now and then. Also, I am really puzzled why your coach recommends only graphite for you. Steel shafts such as NSPRO are not that difficult even for beginners.

| I 1cm shorter than u and same age.... I can use steel shafts nspro... who know u can use steel as well... i played for less than 2 years... swing improve after using steel shafts...
may not apply to you but i think you should borrow a regular flex steel shaft to try... u never know until you try

| frankly that price is high for a 2nd hand Mizuno Presage.
you can look at this thread:
TOPIC: RELOCATION SALE-PING, SONARTEC, ZEN PUTTER, IMPACT STIK, NXT Balls
1. Nakashima NP5 Tour Forged Irons a. KBS Tour Regular Shaft b. 4-PW c. Almost new condition. See to believe. d. $600 only for an awesome super game improvement set.
This I think is a better buy.
In any case, try as many clubs as you can before you decide. If you dont have the time, then get something around $400.....
my 2 cents. | |

Driver Callaway FTIQ, 10 deg, Regular Flex Woods Callaway X, 3 Wood, Regular Flex Irons Callaway X20, 3I-SW, Graphite, Regular Flex Putter Odyssey Dual Force 2, #1, 34"
What would be a reasonable price to quote?

| Personally, i think the callaway set is a good set, especially X series iron, they are well know for forgiviness, very suitable for begineer, and can last you for another at least 2 to 3 yrs.
The only thing i see here is the #3FW, which i think mostly of the time, not many people are using it on FW, but could be a substitute for driver if driver shot is not good.
I would suggest you to see if you can change the #3FW to #5FW, it would be more useful.
For a set like this, assuming is the condition is good say 8/10, i would most likely to offer somewhere around $800 +/- $50
Do bear in mind that you would still need to folk out $$ to buy golf bags to house these clubs..i would always advise beginner to keep $$ as low as possible
just my thot

snowman Your thots quite close to mine. Actually I prefer a 5W plus another utility if possible in addition to the set. Yes, the seller is also providing a bag so it helps too. Thanks again.

| I'm currently using a set of jpx-500 with graphites (steel fiber to be exact) and like them quite a bit. A large part is because they were custom fitted for me. Since you're comparing the jpx to callaway x20, I personally find the callaway to be a tad more forgiving. Sorry, I have no idea about cost since I am based outside of Singapore.
The steel shaft vs graphite shaft issue basically comes down to what you prefer. There's no rule stating that beginners should use graphite and better players use steel. One of the biggest issues to good graphite shafts is cost. There are lots of graphite iron shafts in the market that provide steel-like torque numbers that come in different weights, many more than 100g.
