Yeap, I think the same lies with my dad. I remember everytime the whole family goes on holidays and play golf, the 3 bros and the day always have a good outing at the golf course irregardless how we played that day. Its just so memorable.

I agree, we started taking golf seriously after the kids were in primary school--hoping they would like it and we would have something in common with them thru our retirement years.

When I was young, my dad could always 'whup my a**" in billards/pool, bowling, deer hunting, fishing and poker. He did not like golf cos it was "for rich men only".

Now I dislike all the aforementioned sports, and only play golf for exercise and 'fun'.

Okay, I also still enjoy playing poker for petty cash.

Just dont exert and swing easy and it'll last you till your nineties... look at Sam Snead, Bryon Nelson and others..

Golf is a love hate game.. People either love it or dun really like it.
Kids generally enjoy team sport alot more cos you get to bond and mess around with friends.
Golf is a very individual sport.. I use to play basketball in Sec School and not really enjoy golf
cos basketball is more team and more support. Golf is always quite lonely when you compete.
Until the day they understand how fun is competitive golf and the enjoyment of feeling the adrelaline~ and winning then they will get addicted to it.

Generally my conclusion is kids likes to win. when they win alot in golf when they are young they will keep playing golf. whereas if they can't really win they dun understand the meaning or train hard and beat the certain someone. SO they just move on to other interest.
Until u reach a certain age where u understand that you cannot win in everything, then the challenge of golf will start kicking in. and u will get hook there after =)
