| It's not too bad. I can see myself using something like this for web browsing, firing off quick emails, etc. Not so much for gaming, but I think it fills a niche. | |

The current hierarchy of mobile computing looks like this: notebooks > netbooks > iPad > PDA/smartphones Netbooks are good for people on the go who frequently input data and are more comfortable doing so with a physical keyboard. The iPad, on the other hand, appears to be more geared towards people who want a device that is ideal for on-the-go: - reading eBooks - playing larg-screen games (imagine Heroes of Might & Magic or C&C Red Alert on this - yes, C&C Red Alert is already available for the iPhone) - checking and replying to emails - web browsing and reading web pages like a newspaper (e.g. NY Times, CNN, BBC, etc) - watching movies (e.g. on a plane) -- 10 hours of battery life! - listening to music (I'm assuming that the BT A2DP profile for stereo headsets will be enabled) People who want something funkier than a netbook but not as 'heavy' as a touch-enabled notebook. It's also pretty cool in that it can be used as a really large photo frame, or as a mini-desktop when used in conjunction with the dock/keyboard. The UI, being typical Apple, looks pretty good, and the Gallery application looks like it was developed by Cooliris, which also makes gallery plug-ins for IE, Chroms and Firefox on the desktop, and the Gallery application on the Google Nexus One smartphone. While many of the apps (e.g. Mail, YouTube, App Store, Safari, etc) are common in theme to the iPhone, the UI tweaks that leverage the increased screen real estate (e.g. Contacts, Calendars, Gallery, etc) and enhancements are logical (e.g. Gallery integration with Maps) and make it easier to move around. Still no multitasking though, and I doubt the iTunes Music Store will be available in Singapore Worth watching out for. I know I'm getting my hands on one of these! | |

| It does look cool alright but it looks like a giant iPod or an iPhone except with the phone feature. Wonder why they called it iPad. Might as well call it iTampon as suggested by some folks. The next version may have wings that wrap around. | |

| Don't worry, the agency that handled the naming will be remembered for decades to come. I'm sure Jobs had a say in it too. | |
