DGman eric,
thanks for the offer... i prefer to buy it la... goin to make a effort to make this in my range routine...to see how i am striking the ball. so goin to need lots of it. masking tape will do as well but not as clear a impression as impact tape.. it more to see if you have the correct length for your irons. sorry for my 2 cents ah....

| Several different/cheaper ways to do it.. I've tried several of the methods.
Impact spray: It's like a powder; this one is specialized, sold in golf shops; but also can buy those "snow" spray during Christmas time. (tried both specialized spray is good, snow spray is cheaper; ok.. so-so result)
Carbonless paper: Those receipt books that use carbonless copy paper. If you press hard, you get the blue or black marks.. This method very troublesome, because you need to get some glue to stick on. (tried; results ok.. too troublesome)
Caddy patch: This one is like a piece of felt/suede; after you hit, you wipe it off; smoothen the sueude. You can diy buy finding a piece of suede and glue to your clubface. (never tried)
Use a marker or lipstick: Mark a straight veritical line on the ball and hit. The lipstick mark will leave a line on the clubface. Some people feel that by looking at the line (vertical or crooked to one side, can guesstimate if the lie is off). (Tried.. personally my favorite method at the range for quick check of impact position without impact tape).
