I think that was just a example. In my opinion, since the marketplace exists in this forum, it must has its rationale behind. I dont really think what is primary objective or secondary objective for a forum, as individuals has various needs, it may shift from one to another as well. Just like this "Lounge" , we can talk about anything else besides golf. PS: Regarding your assumption which I am plan to sell anything in the marketplace, that was your assumption only. I just like to be active user in this forum , be able to participate in every boards, including market place.

In that case, there should not be any issue on complying with the requirement but why u suggest 25 posts then? As mentioned clearly by the Mod, the marketplace is not actually a trading place for part time or full time trader. It is just an avenue to help members to get rid of their unwanted stuff. I remember one Mod mentioned years ago that one should not exorbitantly profit from another member. I know you are a trader involving in the trading of club membership. BTW, did I say u wanna sell stuff? I only mentioned Judith was the one. So is Judith your clone?

It used to be 20 posts and increased to 50 coz 20 is too easy to achieve and once they sell their stuff, they disappear until the next time they need to sell.
When the forum was set up, it is not for users to sell their stuff but to interact. I would say WTS section is only a good to have. It happens on other forum too. However, I do believe there are still some enthusiasts who will discuss interesting topics. These are the people keep the forum alive, no matter how many WTS/WTB are there. Right now, I think that group of ppl may become less active ? or less new blood ? Anyway, the forum has to adapt to the change quickly. It is really too quiet . Although it stated as "Singapore's most active golfing forum."

| If you go through the replies , there is someone suggested to reduce the "50" . And, I dont really see any good suggestions here to make the forum live.
BTW, I have no clones yet. very new to this forum. To me, 50 or 100, is not big deal, as I am very free, but really found very less interesting topics to contribute my posts. (Persoanlly I just like to climb the ladder to hit 1000 or more become a orange ID ? ) haha .

Profiles of golfers are also such that most are not forum aware/enthusiasts. But I think it was active in the past. What happened? Is there any competition ? or ppl moved to other channels, such as FB?

| Both Turbo and i have been here for very long
I guess we have seen good and bad days for GR. We seen many good things and bad things here along the way
I guess with the setting up of Golfsite, the volume here reduced slightly and i guess its very normal for a golf forum to have cycles.
All it takes are some members here who are passionate to kick start this again
Whether 25 or 50 posts, it really doesn't matter. Most members here make friends through interacting with each other as well as for selling things.
So with all these talk and this thread, indeed this forum has came slightly alive again.
Thanks iGolf for starting this topic

| A case in point yesterday. Perhaps a testimony to the forum being too successful, I spent the day chatting and meeting with people who had arranged their own monthly medals within a chat group on what's app. A chat group set up by and initiated by people within this forum. Almost everyone who was there had been active in golf Republic.
But not a single communication was done through the forum. Nobody needed it like before there was smartphones and groupchats.
Do I miss those days? Yes and no. Who can dispute that chat groups are great for broadcasting and setting up golf games ad hoc and efficient like now. But that has also meant that what started here as gatherings has evolved to be more modular more controllable in small numbers like what's app chats.
This forum has a place in Singapore, and it can become very relevant and active again, but perhaps not the way we were used to.
The answer to the million dollar question is, how?

Think it'll help? Bro Nam Flog, Where have u been?? I been a Long time since I saw u post. When can we have a game again. Back to topic, Inorder to have an active forum, there must be active Administrators and members to answer, post or stir some interesting question that can attract the attention of others. The other avenue like I said is the marketplace but with Golfsite, it is so much easier Liao.

| I reckon market is a bit small for this forum with the growth of internet, people posting will just get lessers and you'll have more hawks just reading. It happens on the car forums and for bikes as well IMO. There will be active posters and hawks just reading in every forum. | |

| I think there was some kind of virtual game ladder within the forum which promote members to meet up for a round of golf...might increase interaction and promote more chatter?
Just a suggestion. | |

Just a suggestion. Can GR organise a golf tournament? Now with all the advert fees collected for the site, it should be ok to put up some prizes? This tournament will sure get lots of buzz.

This tournament will sure get lots of buzz. This is a non profit making forum ... No advertising is allowed ... Hence no advertising revenue or whatsoever ... At least at this juncture. Not certain if the forum owner would change her mind in the future ...

| I just looked through how many forumers visited just to hang out a little and read over the last 24 hours. Some post ,some did not. Still got 202 people just passing by. Imagine if all 202 just posted something, anything.

| am newbie here on this forum...one thing that annoys me is the color scheme (black background) which makes my eyes extremely tiring after a few minutes of reading I love the spirit of forming camaraderie here through constructive talks and exchanges between members. | |
