| (Long post. Read conclusion if in a hurry)Am I just small fry customer of Paris Silk electronics store at Holland Village?Has Paris Silk grown too big because business is too good?Well maybe. What does this post hope to achieve? To caution all to beware of buying from them. Simple. I dont like to do this. But if you had suffered similar experience and indignation from Paris Silk, you will understand. I bought from their store for many years, but not anymore. Electronics, cameras, white appliances. Never again.Mon 13 Jul 15:Bought washer dryer.Settled for delivery on Thu 16 Jul 3-6pm.Thu 16Jul 15:Received call at 1pm that delivery will be delayed to 4-6pm6.50pm: Nobody came. Called Paris Silk delivery and he said the driver was on his way. Had some truck issues (really??).7.50pm: Called Holland Branch. Indian lady said driver was on his way from Sembawang.9pm: still nobody turned up.Since Fri was a public holiday, had to wait today to find out what happened. If they was some decency to explain as to why delivery didnt come. At least somebody should have called to inform that they cant make the delivery. We spent hours waiting for a delivery that never came. Maybe you are more patient and understanding than I am. Sat 18 Jul 15So I called the Paris Silk delivery centre, spoke to a guy called Victor:1. He nonchalantly told me the driver was probably playing punk.2. Promised to make delivery today3. When I asked for the boss' phone number, he claimed he doesnt have it. Victor also doesnt have the number. (Really??). When pressed further, he gave the driver's number which isnt possible to call through. He also gave Larry's number (his apparent boss) which I will call later. I'm not sure if that number is real.Unsatisfied, and sensing he's taking me for a ride, i called the Holland Village branch. An Indian lady picked up (presumably the lady boss there). She said she will check with the driver and call me back. After 5 minutes, she called to say that the driver had called on Thu, and we told him "not to deliver as we were going for dinner".I said," why would we sit there (as fools) waiting for 6 hours for the machine to be delivered? And to tell your driver not to come?"Now somebody is lying.I hate dealing with liars. At the writing of this post, the delivery has not been made. Certainly, I have recourse through CASE etc to this.I'm not worried.Paris Silk has done itself in.Doing business is about trust, and fulfilling promises. They had grown big. Staff attitudes are what you call "cant be bothered", and worse now somebody is lying.Buyers beware. I would advise that the best thing is not to give them any more business unless you can take their nonsense. For businesses out there, your reputation is worth more than anything. Fundamentally, deliver on your promise. Customers can understand if things fail. But don't take that trust for granted. Once broken, it's hard to mend. If it's a lie, credibility is at stake. There is no meaning in doing business, or to the brand, if such lying is prevalent.I hope through this sharing, we can change such business practices. And lastly, only the good business will thrive. I cant keep my silence on this.Terribly upset. | |

Are Paris Silk really competitive? Courts and Harvey are established for good reason. Havent bought from Audio House. Well, after what I went through for Paris Silk (they had been expanding aggressively these few years), you can bet they have lost the edge.

But to make you feel better. . .. go get a new putter !! Thanks bro, yes Mega is still good. Bought from Joe many many years ago. Good guy. I would have gone there if I didnt pass by Paris Silk. It's seems like a frustrating deep bunker trap now. Yes, we get more happiness shopping for golf poison (esp Jdm). No headaches dealing with delivery man.

| Unfortunately, if you want it cheap, you kinda have to expect a cheap'ish-type service and attitude. | |

| After 48 hours of delay, the washer dryer was finally delivered. Not a word of truthful explanation why from Paris Silk. I say adios to them. And seriously, 48 hours???
Easier to wait for rain or wind swept Open Championship to restart than Paris Silk.

| I bot from Harvey Norman my TV and washing machines a few years ago and had the same situation as you. Delivery guy did the same stupid stunt and kept delaying the delivery while I waited whole day at home but when I called the boss to complian, he FIX the issue. Apologised and then proceed to waive off $400 plus of extend warranty. That what I called after sales service. Was happy to buy my fridge and other electrical items from them later years.
Pity Paris Silk lady boss did not react to your complian. That is definitely a let down... : (

| Sorry to hear that bro.....
I really feel that such retails the weakest link still is the delivery as most of the outsource to local and/or smaller contractors. They often had delivery planning and execution hiccups though not all are such.
Had faced several times delivery woes and that includes parasilk. The indian lady boss only interested to make sales and you can see that she is very perturbed when anyone calls her for delivery status. One way out is to ask for delivery time early in the day.
Not sure if CASE can do anything.

| I think forget about such so called established companies including Courts and Harvey....I've not bought a single big ticket item from them simply because you can get it for lesser and I mean real lesser from those heartland shops.
Pretty alright with service and delivery. Had a HDMI input unserviceable with the LED TV I bought few years ago and it was a one to one exchange.
Btw, it's at Alexandra Village.

| Prices from heartland stores may not always be cheaper compared to the more established ones, especially smaller electrical appliances and cameras. I always buy my stuff from Best and so far, delivery and service is always timely. They also have the economies of scale and brand establishment to back their after sales agreement. Bought my Aircon from Gain city and pretty happy as well.. Have not used courts or Harvey Norman before... | |

| I had similar experience with Picket & Rail when I ordered a queen size bed years ago. They did deliver after 12 hours after the promised timing. At 12.30am... | |

| I have a similar case with Singpost EMS. Received an sms in the morning that they will deliver my goods on Friday around 4-6pm but no delivery, no calls received. Called them and they say too much deliveries, will do it tomorrow. Came Saturday but no body deliver anything. Got fedup, call up on Sunday and ask for the manager and was told they off on Sunday and delivery is scheduled on Monday but I gave them a piece of my mind and condemn them of their so called courier service is worst in the world and demand them to deliver on Sunday. Finally the items came on Sunday.
A courier service with such service is really terrible!! If they can send sms to inform me of the delivery, why can't they send sms to inform me that delivery is not possible? Obviously there is some lack in the monitoring of the package, failure in the system.
Delivery delays are bound to happen be it from Paris Silk or Courts or elsewhere, but the important thing is to keep customers informed. A phone call is all they need.

| I have thru the years been a customer of Paris Silk. Sad to hear such complaint and it boils down to the failure of the courier/delivery Dept. I enjoyed my services from the boss, name is Kevin. If got complaint, look for him. One bad delivery no matter how frustrating it was doesnt make the company. Go look for Kevin Backpacker and let your experiences with the delivery Dept be known to him. The lady boss referred is the sister. | |

| Sorry to hear your case. I also had a bad experience with Paris Silk many years back. Bought a slow cooker at their shop after price quote, but upon payment was charged a higher price. When I queried why the price difference, the cashier said the earlier quotation was without gst! Never like such business ethic and had stopped patronising them since then. | |

| I have not patronise Paris Silk before but had heard some good reviews about them before though that was many, many years back. Guess the service level has dropped. So far, most of my big household electronics items bought from Harvey Norman and Courts are ok. No complains about their service/delivery. | |

Thought it is an offence to quote or display prices without GST

Thought it is an offence to quote or display prices without GST There were no price display on all their merchandises at that time; the only sticky on their merchandises then were just their own secret price code. Not sure if there are now as I have never stepped into their shop since then. For all I know, a good seller would usually quote the product price including GST, if not they would let you know upfront. But not until they have charged into your credit card and tell you only when you asked! Very sneaky...
