| Was looking for a set of JDM forged irons in graphite shafts (yep.. My elbows need a break from pounding my steelies).. Did some investigative online work , deciding between mizunos, yamahas and the often under-rated srixons.. Was considering srixon z745s but finally decided on the srixon z545s (stiff flex) and was lucky that I managed to get my friend to get the set from Tokyo while on biz trip. Tried my new toys on the range today and in honesty, I was pretty impressed. Felt buttery when I connected on the sweet spot, and for the same club, and with a more cautious temp, I managed about the same distance as my current set (TM speedblades) for the first few balls. Not bad at all considering this is the first time I hitting them and my graphites since a long while...The cavity back (all irons) and the tungsten insert (for 5 & 6 irons) provided the much appreciated forgiveness. Ball flight is a little high, but I am not complaining. I do believe they have slightly stronger lofts... Was apprehensive about the potential 'chunky' or oversized look and a thick topline, but it's not in person (slightly smaller than my speedblades)..love the minimalist design without fanciful colors... The chrome is subjective but I actually come to like it (probably biased ).. Miyazaki Kosuma shaft, 81 grams, mid-kick and I went for stiff flex.. As I am writing this, I am still pondering whether I should have gone for the z745 but since I am more of a recreational golfer, I probably made the right choice of getting z545.. One key highlight of these irons is the VT tour sole - increases leading bounce and decreases trailing bounce. Will be gaming these on the course in IOI this Sunday and probably give a better review, at least with better quality balls and real terrains. There are better reviews in YouTube if keen... | |

| Very nice
I'm also considering the 745. Like u said, the 545 have pretty strong lofts. I believe pw is 44*. Do u think u r getting high launch due to the shaft?

| Thanks guys for the comments.
Scotty: I am quite sure the mid-kick shaft also help promotes the higher ball flight as well. and yes, I was seriously considering the 745 as well, but went for 545s as I needed some technology when hitting out from troubled spots, esp when these spots in SG/MY courses are are rough rough.. I did ask my friend to compare the 545 and 745 side by side, and they look almost similar from topline..the key difference would be from the side profile.. If you are looking for more workability, go for the 745.. They look really nice and compact..
Pocket face: I dint even know that taka sell these sticks.. Hardly go to golf stores anymore.. And yes, they should be more reasonably priced than the other JDms like yamahas, xxio, prgr....

| Kissthegreen, out of curiosity, I went to try a TM Tour Preferred MC demo 7i with KBS C-Taper shaft ... I presumed it is similar feel to your speed Blade. But 6i to 4i is non-forged. I don't like the feel of the TM TP iron versus my MP69 ... However, the distance generated by the TM TP iron was long ... Approx 5-m longer than my MP69 7i ...

I did tried the TM tour MCs and speedblades before (from friends).. Pretty nice club but I just don't play often enough to be consistently hitting the sweet spot.. I went for the speedblades in the end.. Agreed that the speedblades is a tad little 'soul-less' but they are pretty forgiving and quite long. Even when I top the ball, the ball just keep on darting forward! I will imagine the MCs will probably also outperform similar in its category.,

Lol. Haha.. Let me try the srixons on Sunday, and see if they do me good.. I have the speedblades for only abt 15 months and quite consistent performers.. Thinking I keeping it as a backup set but let see what my commander-in-chief thinks of it first.. Cheers..

I guess the cast iron - 6i to 4i would be worse off in terms of feel ...

| Not sure, but felt the shaft is too light and affecting his swing tempo abit. Perhaps need time to switch from steel to graphite. | |

| Graphite shaft needs to adopt a smooth and easy tempo ... Certainly take sometime to get use to the light weight as one needs to adjust his tempo ... | |

| That's awesome, it's harder to find these types of clubs in North America. I personally haven't seen it around too much in Vancouver anyways, but the Srixon irons this year look great. I love the shaft you have in them though, I had played a Miyazaki Kusala Blue in my driver before and it is just awesome. Would definitely have considered the same set or even the Z745's if they were more readily available to test over here... have since picked up a set of MP-54's though enjoy the new irons! | |

| the shape and thick sole looks quite similar to mizzy mp h4/5.
but instead of tungsten insert, mizzy has a hollow cavity for the longer irons.

| Still adapting to my carbon sticks, and am getting better but still working on my tempo to maximize the longer irons 5 and 6. Have to admit that there is no issues getting up the ball up ... The ball flight indeed is rather high but carry distance is not sacrificed as compared to my steelies.. Perhaps i lose some overall yardages due to rolling (or rather lack of )... Somehow, bcos of the lighter shaft, I found out that I tend to be pretty handzy on my down swing.. Decided to go a bit more textbook during my downswing and keep my right elbow as close to my body as possible to reduce 'moving parts'. Probably common sense to most, but certainly does not come easy to me... Work in progress... | |

| Wow.. That's fast.. Actually my friend saw takashimaya selling a new set in steel shaft for 799 last week... Left one set.. No more graphite set on sale.. Do consider that its japanese specs shaft, so R or SR can be quite whippy.. I was glad that I went for stiff flex.. | |
