Kingsmill Championship Preview, Pairings & Discussions

After a one week break, the LPGA moves to the state of Virginia this week for the playing of the Kingsmill championship. 


This will be tournament #12 of 32 on this year's LPGA schedule.

At least this time round I don't see the Koreans dominating the leaderboard. I would say it is a good mix this time ... It looks like The Pink Panther has made some improvements after a tweak in her swing and a change of stronger lofted irons ... Lexi has very powerful full swing but she needs to work on her putting ...

The Koreans are still giving the Americans and Europeans a run for the money ... They are the game changers ... Awesome!

They must be doing something right in Korea! We should learn their secret and maybe we will get some real sportsmen instead of having to buy them from overseas

Not just in golf.  The koreans are game changer in many fields, home electronics/smart phone/automobiles just to name a few. The koreans are willing to learn from and listen to others who are leaders in the respective field, even appointing foreigners to head their company. Kia motors president is a german. Look at how much kia has advanced and improve over the last 10 yrs.  Most of the korean LPGA players are trained in America by american coaches.  You don't see many Japanese LPGA players if any, trained by foreign coach outside of Japan.

Interesting observation by TLHENG. Basically, it's learning from the best. But I noted the Korean men have not made a similar impact in the PGA tour barring a handful. Wonder why?

It takes years (10+) to develop a good golfer. Se Re Pak became a big star on LPGA in 1998 winning major championships. So a lot of young Koreans girls were inspired to follow in her footsteps and we are seeing them making waves in the LPGA now. 

KJ Choi came much later won big only in mid 2000s... so we have not seen them yet.

PGA Tour is far more competitive versus LPGA ... The former not only need accuracy but distance off the tee as well ... That is why PGA Tour is much more lucrative to play in compared to LPGA ...

Same for professional tennis ... One does not see many World's top Asian male tennis player ... Maybe the World's male top twenty is not even an Asian ...

Both the koreans and Japanese work equally hard, but the main difference is that, the Japs tends to trust their own kind but not others. Secondly, Japs are not as adventurous as the koreans.  Probably because of Japs culture.  As a team, Japs can work together very well, not so as individual.

My once observation during a game at Tanjong Putri.
Arrived 'B' & 'C' club hse and after droppg our bags, noticed a Korean Lady golfer practise putting. After gettg ready at the buggy and waitg fr other buddies, she's there still! 
Amazing after my game, she's there! 
Looked at their determination, discipline and hunger (drive) fr a success!

Looked at their determination, discipline and hunger (drive) fr a success! 

And I saw how a Korean dad coached his daughter at the range.
She easily drives 210m++ and still get fierce scolding from the father.
Real loud scolding.

Thankfully Im not Korean and dont understand a hoot about what he's scolding, but definitely comes with some swearing.
