She has the advantage if length and yet she tees off with a wood or hybrid. Is she is there to win tournaments or to just make the cut? She should be overwhelming the course with her length and yet she keeps trying to play safe. And most times not too successful at that. At this point the LPGA golf supers should be Wie proofing the courses similar to Tiger proofing 2 decades earlier.

Maybe wie's drive is wild thus she prefers teeing off using woods instead since the distance is already long.

Damn...can't believe I'm agreeing with meia for a change but statistics have proven that, for tour tour pros, it's better to be long and in the rough than short and on the fairway......I also don't understand why she's playing so safe instead of overwhelming the course with her booming drives.....
I was watching a tournament last year where she went head to head against Lexi Thompson and she was using her 3 wood to tee off and Lexi was just smoking her drives 30-50m past. It wasnt even a fair fight......

Even her 3 woods found the rough ... That maybe the reason she is keeping the big stick in the bag ...

Better to root for Lydia Ko to break records. MW just hasn't fulfilled her potential. All this change to 3W shows a lack of confidence in her game.

Oh yah Lydia Ko. Love the way she freeze after her follow through and stare at her ball flight from the corner of her eye.
The way she swing is also what I subscribe to.
Honestly, I dare to challenge Michelle Wie to a putting competition. With a bit of luck, I'd say it's 50-50. Lol.

Namflog bro, you will need a more interesting stance to draw the crowd to you. MW draws lots of eyeballs, though not for her putting talent

Does it mean, with all the RnD efforts at the Nike golfing department. Can't come up with anything good enough for her or suitable to her play.

It was the ANA, old KNB, 1st major. Lexi bombing it and even when Michelle was down a couple, she still refuse to pull out the driver. Just saying is she just to make cut or win tournments? She needs to decide this. Either go for it and try to win or keep playing safe and just make cuts.

MW is passé. .. Who cares about her anyway. .
But totally agree with meia.. thought teeing off 3w all the time is for weekend warriors betting $5 for drinks...

MW has yet to live up to the hype that she was made to be, the next female TW. But let's respect her wish to use whatever club she chose to tee off. She should know better what club to use since we are not in her shoes. Obviously length off the tee is important, but accuracy is just as important. She probably has problem with her driver at the moment. Give her some time. I am sure the driver will come into play when she's ready for it.

I think people are missing my point. If her goal is to make the cut, then by all means use a fw. But if she wants to win tournaments, she needs to take chances and use the big stick. I can't believe I'm going to quote Fool's comment but it is statistically proven it is better to be long and in the rough then to be short and straight. What is world coming to when me and Fool agree in anything?

Why are we so concerned about MW? Every one is entitled to their own view. There is no right or wrong, Fool's comment or not. If MW chose to use woods, what right have to say she cannot use it. it's her choice. She know better. There's no necessity to call others' comments as Fool's comments. There is a fool here who believe his view is right and bigger than others.

Using a fairway wood to tee off thru out the par 4 or 5 holes does not mean one can't win the tournament ... The great TW has ever done that in one of the British Open championships which he won ... He teed off mostly with his 2i and/or FW #3 ... It is a matter of knowing what he/she can do best at that point in time ... We can't say what MW was doing is right or wrong as we do not know for sure what was on her mind and her game plan ... Moreover, none of us here is a touring pro and hence, who are we to say what she was doing is in fact incorrect?

If the Fool full swing instead of three quarter swing, drives can go further.
