| Hi All
Brand new golfer here. Took lessons last year but stopped for a while. Still dialing in my swing. More comfortable with my 6-7 iron onwards. Own a RBZ 3 HL (17 degree loft) with a steelfiber ss65 R flex shaft. Can't hit this 3 wood to save my life.
Am looking for a driver now. Based on some research believe better to get a 12 degree or high lofted driver with 44" or shorter r flex shaft.
Having trouble finding a shorter shafter driver used.
Was thinking I could put the Steelfiber ss65 R Flex shaft in a 12 degree driver head. Length is about 43.5" which would be perfect.
Its a heavy shaft for a driver but would it be worth a shot?

| I think you are on the right track. Welcome to normal golfers land. Personally , I feel drivers shouldn't be more than 44.5 inch even for the tallest player. many golfers I know, me especially play better with a driver sub 45 inch. my gamer is a 43.5" prgr 10*. | |

| Yes exactly!!!
I have tried my friends Tmag RBZ which was 46" couldn't find the head with that thing. Played my fil custom fit Honma at 44 found it sweet most of the time. Even tried a 9.5 Titleist D3 at 43.75" and hit it good.
Gripping down a long shaft doesn't seem to produce the same effect as playing a shortened shaft for me.
Only worry is the steel fiber's weight and possible flex (it's regular flex sure feels like a stiff or x stiff to me)

| Hara@ u are playing counter balanced leh.
Miles@ a 65g shaft will be too heavy for a newbie imho. It will be worth a shot to find something btw 50-60g R flex and play into 44.5 - 45" max for a starter. If u go to any good fitters, they usually have lots of stock shaft which u can have them shorter to ur trail length.

| @hara you are gripping down on your clubs? - hence counter balanced?
@willytan yes I'm definitely afraid the steelfiber will be too heavy. As it is with this Ho 3 wood which is effectively a 4 wood I can't swing it fast enough to deliver max club head speed. Much less for a driver. Do club fitters sell stock shafts for cheap? Any ideas on price range and where to go?
On a side note after trying my FIL Honma clubs and his friends XX10 clubs am really tempted to go the JDM route. Feels soooooo goooddddd!! Alas price range much higher than my golf skills.
Been lurking on tourspecgolf and drooling over those Ryomas!!!

| If u stay in the west side, u can try either Pandan loop (Malek) or Citilink (Raymond) fitter shop.
I think less than $60 including installation Ba. If u really interested, pm me for contact.

| Forgot to add, I have stock RBZ 3 HL shaft in regular flex. 43.5 inches. Would it be ok to add a driver head to it? Or better to get a proper driver shaft instead? | |

Try Vin Golf at FESC. They should be able to help you out.

| Check out Hireko golf website. They have this thing called Thriver.... it's for people who are having problems hitting their driver. | |
