| Hi All
A friend and I would like to play golf more frequently. We love the game, but we don't want to spend too much money on the game before we become more serious golfers.
Does anyone know if BKK (Thailand) has cheaper but good golf courses? Or is Chiang Mai cheaper?

| I just got back from Chiangmai. 3 rounds of golf, decent 3 star hotel, flight, food, massage and transport abt $1200/- | |

| depending what are you looking at...golf tour/holiday mainly for accompanies with friends, it's quite enjoyable when a big group of people play together in 3 or 4 days on the roll. If want to improve the game and experience more, can try the weekend golfer to JB. I never play Bangkok before (going to in this coming Feb), but I played at Chiangmai/Chiangrai in the past 3 years, some courses are quite difficult and challenging which is good for game improvement. Each package is about 850-900 SGD (for single) included golf and hotel. Massage and food are not expensive, so overall spent around 1200-1400 SGD. Ticket will need to add another 3-500 depending when you book the ticket and which airline etc..hope this help. | |

| Golfing in JB will be much cheaper, taking into consideration of the extras incurred. Air-tickets, lodging, transfers (to & from) the golf clubs, caddies ( compulsory in some courses)...
Green fees of the better courses are not that cheap too... BUT its FUN!

| Golfing in Thailand is not that cheap if you compared to JB. But the course condition and the service you get on the course, it's definitely great experience.
There are cheap and ex courses in Thailand, depending on what you want? But to me if playing those so called average or below average courses, I rather played in JB.

| Drive in normally, it's ok to go in play then come back after food. Normally we don't wondering around and it's ok.
I use Oscar (sms 96508609) to book the courses in JB. You can find them in Facebook as well.

TPGR.com. hhgcc.com.my etc. thre sometimes are promotions.
Maybe you can use the search engine found at the top instead of just asking

| eh, but is it really safe to park SG plates in the course? cause the car i intend to drive in with isn't mine… even if it were mine, i wldn't wanna lose it.. zzz lol
heard stories that Msians especially target SG cars… plus i dun think sg car insurance covers "loss of cars while playing golf…" lol

| have driven in countless of times, HH, Tanjong Puteri, Palm resort etc, abosolutely no problem. Seems that the guarded and gated arrnagement works.
Am more worried about stopping along the way for makan and petrol etc but at the course no issues at all, at least not that I have heard of

| My golf society have our annual tournament coming up in March and this time around we are travelling to Phuket.
We have 3 nights 4* accommodation along with two rounds booked at Blue Canyon and Red Mountain (all-inclusive price for caddies, buggies, transfers etc) - with flights on top it is just under $1,000. I booked through a tour operator and they have been amazing. The company is golfasian co. and the representative was a guy called Paul Tudor.
Happy golfing! | |
