Increase in S'pore tolls 'unjustified': Malaysian minister

Singapore should not use the toll introduced at the Johor end of the Causeway as a reason to increase its own charges on vehicles travelling between the two countries, a Malaysian minister said.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Wee Ka Siong said the Malaysian toll was to pay the highway concession company and to upgrade the Eastern Dispersal Link.
Singapore's matching tolls were "unjustified", Malaysia's The Star quoted him as saying. "The way that they put it, it is as though the Malaysian Government is to blame for their increase in toll rates."
There was no agreement between the two governments to match tolls, he said, claiming Malaysia had never done so for Singapore's toll increases.

Why was it unjustified for Singapore to increase the toll while it is perfectly fine for Johor to collect it. Many vehicles are not even using the Highway but they collected it anyway. And it is all because they are greedy.

Wouldn't it make more sense if you wanted to collect toll for EDL, the toll point should be at EDL?? Why collect at customs where not all the cars would use the EDL? scratch

the toll increase has little or no impact; just look at the peak hour jam, still the same

as usual, ppl just kpkb for a while, then life is back to norrnal

Our govt know us too well and they are teaching others to deal with us.

Already planned with the wayang to ease down our throat!

NBzzz....I hope they keep increasing till there is no traffic.

LTA has responded. That means to say, Singapore is not hard-up for the toll fees.
