While I know the best would of course be fitted for your clubs, but if I would to purchase something off the rack, say driver or wood, what kind of shaft should I lean towards,  stiff or regular flex?

I've been told I swing fast and hit like a bull,  and have very fast downswing. In that case,  should I be looking at stiffer shaft and not those that will bend in the wind Question Question Question

(I'm actually thinking of slowing down, as I would rayje4 sacrifice 10-20 yards for accuracy now.

You may consider me a beginner.

What them pros say to above?   Smile

Try try try. For me I tried Asian Reg & Stiff, seems like using a cane. Tried a few diff spec and realised Global Reg suit me.

Bro,

Every brand has their own definition of R or S flex so it is best that you can try out as many from your friend's bag or you can go club demo which quite often happen at driving ranges on weekends.

From your post you were looking for accuracy rather than the extra 10yards, then u may go for S flex shaft for it usually give u tighter dispersion with moderate swing speed.

Bro, I think u need a heavier shaft. What is the shaft weight now for your driver? If is more than 60g, is properly too light.

Try the demo clubs at Taka, Isetan Scotts or driving range.
There are so many diff brands.
Some come with Global or Jap spec (less stiff) variants.
And a Global Reg is diff from a Jap Reg.

in my opinion, finding the right shaft to match the right head, is as magical as finding the soul mate... Razz

you should probably go look for a few club fitter and get some opinion to listen to their recommendations

I was using regular and as light as possible shaft for all my clubs.
Like 50+g from driver and 80+g for irons.
After fitting, now I use 60+g stiff shaft for my driver and 100+g Regular shafts for my irons.

Fitting is not that expensive.
Some places charged you for fitting and don't require you to buy anything.
Basically you hit different shafts on the launch monitor and see the data.
I think it is money well spend.

thanks bros for all the replies/advice, much appreciated.

@dreamer - where can I do a fitting (and by fitting, does that mean the guy telling me whaat kind of shafts/loft I should ideally be getting)? also, how much roughly does this cost, Im thinking it would be money well spent as well by the looks of it

I feel comfortable holding a lighter shaft driver whenever i go into shops, but have never hit both S and R to notice the difference hence im asking the above, as feeling comfortable holding and  hitting consistently may not be correlated afterall?

Thanks guys

nvm, i realised it's stupid asking where, as there're many posts guiding on this.

Reckon will go to big fish or something (seems highly recommended)

Thanks for the advices above nonetheless!

Some club fitter in the market. Some can recommend Company A, some Company B. What you can do is to search the thread in GR on "Useful addresses & info of Pro Shops/fitters!" and see which near you and comfortable with.
