| I have been a NSRCC and MGK member for about a year now. There are times that I join their medal games and there are times that I do not. So, as I am here reflecting now, as to why I do join or do not join, I will also like to hear what are the considerations everyone here have?
So, to share about my experiences. NSRCC They actually almost totally do not publicise their medal games. But, I have in fact actually joined about 3 of them.
So why do I join them?
Coz booking a NSRCC slot on Saturday is almost impossible to me. For the price that I pay for medal game, it is only very slightly more expensive and it guarantees a slot to me. So, I join, not with the intention to win, not because they have beautiful advertisements (like I said, they do not have any), but simply because it is worth every cent and I stand a chance to win some vouchers.
MGK They do email blasting. They publicise on their facebook. Visuals for every medal game is always different. Do the visuals catch my attention? They are really quite nice, but I read it and the decision is more in terms of what is the course that will be played, how much does it cost, etc.
So, in essence, if I am to really analyse my considerations, I guess it is really down to 1) Date (whether I am available) 2) Course (do I like playing at the course) 3) Cost (is it worth paying $x to play there)
Visuals and the rest matter to a small extent to me only.
So how about you guys? | |

| FYI, unless there have been changes or I'm mistaken 83momo, monthly medals are bare-bones tournaments usually for club members with small prizes at most for the winners of each division. It's the corporate and charity tournaments that offer goodie bags to entice participation. | |

| Funny I just signed up for my first medal game yesterday... MGK's Tiger Cup later this month at MBGC.
In my youth I was sponsored to play a sport (not golf) professionally at a national level, and miss that competition.
I am a high handicap player and have little chance of placing let alone winning, but look forward to playing real rules, no mulligan golf for something other than lunch.

| So EastCoastHack, why sign up for the Tiger Cup and not other medal games? Was it coz there was beer? Was it due to venue? Or there really was not much of a reason? | |

A few reasons: 1) I am more confident in my game 2) There is a Division C (18.1 HC or greater. I'm 24.5) that plays off the whites. This is important. 3) It is at my "home" club 4) I'm free on that day I have always wanted to play competitively and was holding back until my HC was below 24 which is a requirement for tournaments I looked at in the past. The October Medal is at Seletar GC... which I have never played at so that might be my second if I enjoy this one. BTW I'm more of a wine and whiskey guy. If there is a Johnny Walker event for hacks I'd be all over it .
