Can someone enlighten me on what this means? Im a newbie who borrowed this driver from a friend.

it means it has a higher "springlike " effect off the clubface. Now considered illegal for tour play, but completely legal for social golfers ( read: us humans).

so popular is the "illegal" HOT FACE , some Japanese golf brands still make them.
