Hello GR! New bird taking up new hobby/sport, reporting!

Dear GR bros & sis, nice to be here and excited to take up this new hobby/sport!

Totally new and a stranger to golf.

Hope to receive guidance and advises to improve myself.
The excitement and anticipation is at the 10k rpm redline! 


I have a dilemma now, to choose/decide between two golf sets/irons...
   Xhot or    AP1 712

Read the reviews of both and they both carry good reviews.

Hence, would appreciate any bro/sis opinions which is recommended/good to have. Intend to use and keep it for 2 years before switching.

Forgivness.....Xhot. As for switching after 2 years, this depends how slutty u become within the next few months once u started it.

Oh?! I didn't even realise that I registered to GR that long ago...
Well..It boils down to my surrounding friends/colleagues that influence/trigger my decision to take up a new sport/hobby that needs to pay.

Welcome from a no handicapper.

Personnally i wpuld buy used first then after a bit get what u think suits u. Sell after 6 mths or so lose abit only then can go test some clubs ay golf hse or something.

I suggest Ap1 as it is good and improvement set and at least can use for 4-5 years or even longer......
You need to choose something more forgiving so that you can enjoy the game. If not, you may disappear and come back again in next few year...keke

Ap1 more forgiving for you compared to xhot?

I'm pondering between these two as both prices offered to me seem to be a good buy.

New set,  ap1 712 irons less than 700bucks.
New full set xhot (driver, fairway, irona, putter and bag) at 1.2k.

Pls let me know if it is ok to reveal pricing here as some might feel sensitive. If not ok, i will edit. Thanks

buy within your budget... both are good for beginner

It really doesnt matter which iron you buy now... cos you will "upgrade" soon. becareful with the group you join in... especially some newbie group with title "newbie 2014". You might upgrade your equipment in a month time due to these "newbies" influence

I really do not think price is main issue for club selection. One set of club can use few years.
My advice is to try both of them if you can. Yes, i am using AP1 now 714. For my pass 5 years, i was using forged iron, AP2, but i give up due to no improvement of my score. I rather to use improvement irons as i am not playing everyday golfer.
