| Hi gang, going to be on vacation in Asia, and Singapore (visiting relatives) specifically from December 23rd to the 29th. Been there numerous times over the year, played twice over in Sebana Cove in Johor on my own (taking the ferry etc.), but not too much fun doing that.
Decided to bring a set of clubs this time (and leave them there for future trips). Hoping to get a couple rounds in sometime between the 24th (morning?) and 28th. I notice that over in Singapore it's maily private courses, and the few public (Sentosa?) courses are super expensive (even by Canadian standards). Hope I can find someone in the Local play forum to hook up with.
I also don't have an official handicap since in Canada, it's mainly public courses and you don't need a handicap to play. So hope that isn't too much of an issue. Although, accordingly to fairwayflies site, my handicap is 17 (not sure how accurate that is though).
I signed up in the Mayalsia golfing forum and have had great responses (since i'll be there the week before), hope I can get similar hospitality here.
Cheers! | |

| anyone showing our canadian friend around or hook up for a game?
Slinger...handicap 17.....your cup of tea.
infy 9001....sentosa is a private course, the public (walk-in rate) rate is way too much. Marina Bay Golf Club should be nice and its got a great view

DGman Go to sleep, and next morning a ton of responses..nice! Can't figure out how to multiquote on this board so.. shorthitter: thanks for the offer.. 140 CAD is pretty steep for me as that's about twice what i usually pay here. Even the best of courses say Glen Abbey here is that price, and i'd rather pay a little less for the Singaporean "experience". slinger: Marina bay sounds good, a little much but for one round i guess i can take it (was hoping for less than 100 CAD knowing how expensive it is to golf there thought member guest rates might be cheaper). Handicap, yeah, unofficial one from fairwayflies, i can print/bring that. 24th (morning, have a neice's bday that night) or 28th doable for a weekday? I'm actually staying in KL and have rounds lined up with the folks there. When in Singapore I'm staying near Kembangan station. betting... er.. we do wager here often, but i usually don't partake as my game is severely affected when i do "ang moh" ... hmm.. haven't heard that term in a while.. depending on your usage or how loosely you use it.. that may or may not apply | |

| Well as fate would have it, i pulled a muscle in my back during my first round here. Played thourgh it during the 2nd round, but the 3rd was a disaster. Looks like I'm not going to be able to get in a round in Singapore after all. Guess that's what i get for trying to play a round after having been off for over a month without any range practice, (golf muscles must have gone to sleep for the winter ) Thanks for the offers and feedback and hope to connect with you guys/gals during my next trip out. FWIW, i don't believe in handicaps I honestly shoot in the low to mid 90's in Canada, which according to fairwayfiles translates to a 17.6 handicap, but as Freedrop can attest to, you might as well have said i was a 24 handicap the way i was playing. I could make excuses, weather-heat, new clubs, different grass, back ache, etc. but in the end, you can't make excuses for a lack of production when you know you can play better. Guess we'll see next time | |
