U can go creativejoe @ Chinatown to feast ur eyes without burning a hole. There are lots of selection of used clubs; driver, fairway woods, hybrids, iron n putters to choose.

Dun bother to get new one cos you will be ever upgrading.

Happy searching...

Melv, look thru the Golf magazine that the ranges normally provide. They provide the dates for when the big brands do their demo days... Test them out and see which you like... then stake out this place for to see what the nice bros are selling so that they can fund their next upgrade =P

imho... they are all good...not much difference between them so its likely going to be down to how you feel when you hit them...

Welcome melv!

For good deals, try Golf Direct or go to Golf Bargains at Harbourfront Centre as they are having a sale till 29th (iirc)...

I swear by the TaylorMade Rbaladez... Both my wife and I are using this model currently... I got mine from GD with the KBS C-taper shaft which works for me!

Thanks guys for the tips.
Both of their prices r quite comparable, of $200 diff.
Me no deep pocket but also not like keep changing clubs..
Had tried the TM's and it feels good for both steel and graphite & it feel equally good,
At the simulator...
Too bad can't make it to the titelist demo on 24thJune..
But had tried them out at one of the shops too..
Oh man, I feel same for both too
Though I like the sound Of TM abit more.

Another thing also if I should get steel or graphite..
(FYI: I can deliver far distance yet...)
One advised I got is that I should get graphite as it be more
Ex if I buy 'aftermarket' to replace the stock ones...
So it's more worth to pay more for the graphite's..

Fingers crossed hope I can do better after more practice

Get out and play. Don't be a range warrior. Meet people. In my experience, people who play golf are usually good people on and off the course. Sportsmanship displayed does carry over to personal life.

Hi Melv, the topic of what type of irons you should buy for your first set has been discussed many times in this forum, in general there are 2 popular views

1)  Get a cheap set (used or new) because you will not know your preferences as a beginner

2)  Pay a bit more and get a set that you can use from now and as your game improves

2a) Some also recommend getting blades or other clubs meant for scratch players and then training hard to learn the proper way of using them, after which you can switch to more forgiving clubs

Looking at the clubs on the market now, Golf Direct is selling Cobra S2 Max for $229 for steel and $249 for graphite, BRAND NEW.  Hard to go wrong with at that kind of price.

Even if you decide on another set at some later stage, you can always keep this as a spare set to introduce another friend into the game.

Not sure how much a AP1 is going for these days, but consider the following scenarios

i)  Spend $900 on AP1

ii) Spend $250 on Cobra S2 Max + $650 on Golf Lessons

Which do you think will help you enjoy the game more?

Hmmm... if Derek had said this earlier... I wouldn't have bought my G25 irons 2nd hand so fast and taken more lessons... but then again I'm loving my  irons so much now! Very Happy
