| Hi All,
Am new to this forum, new to golf too actually.
Am currently using the 690 MBs (from my FIL) and it's been a great set of irons so far, but I am looking at a slightly more forgiving set, and will be looking to get a set of AP2s.
Looking between the 712s (second hand) vs the 714s (first hand, but if second hand also dont mind). Difference in pricing can be quite substantial, anyone with experience on both able to share if the 714s are worth getting over the 712s, considering the price difference?
THanks! | |

| Did a fitting with Gene (Titleist) at Sentosa and had the opportunity to compare the difference in feel between the 712 and 714 AP2s as well as in terms of solid numbers from the results on trackman. The results were quite significant for me, and was what led me to make the purchase of the 714s over the 712s despite the price premium. Feel wise, 714 AP2 feels softer, which Gene attributed to the redesigned medallion in the cavity. The satin clubface over the chrome of the 712s also sets it apart quite nicely from the older model. In terms of numbers, Gene had me hit quite a number of shots with both and after throwing the outliers away to get a more accurate picture, the 714s were 5-8 yards (half a club) further with around the same clubhead speed. So all in all, the 714s are definitely a better club and Titleist did indeed use the 2 years between the 712s and 714s to do some re-engineering of the AP2s to get the improvements the 714s are showing. Hope this helps | |

| I agree on the softer feeling I never tried 712 but was on 710 AP2 and now 714 AP2 the feel is softer and I would say more forgiving if you like to shape your ball flight, I think 714 allows you to do that easily But in terms of distance I really can't tell 7 iron about 135 to 140 there about
I believe if you are on MB, and now trying the AP2, you will surely feel the difference case MB is totally not forgiving. but having said all these, it's my own opinion so best is go to their demo day and try it out

Did the Titty folks strengthen the loft of the 714 irons by a few degrees versus the 712 irons? You're comparing what irons which you experience half a club longer?

| @turbo: fitting was based on the 6 iron and PW. If I'm not mistaken loft has been strengthened by 1 degree going into the 714 series. Gene mentioned that it was to accommodate the new CG position of the 714 AP2s. And if the distance increase still sounds funky to you, shaft was the same during fitting for both series. Cheers | |

| thanks all!
I was at Vinc Golf yesterday, didn't ask about the 712s but the 714s, and was offered a pretty attractive price for it.
I was doing some research around and the distance between the 712s and 714s were mentioned to be 1-2 yards difference, and that some were hitting 180-190 on 712s with 7i. that's far enough for me (assuming i can hit 80% of that).
in terms of the irons being forgiving, i am looking for a softer set too, without sacrificing too much on flight distance as compared to MBs...
I am not able to PM yet, if you have a set to let go, text me at 92709four60, will reply much faster there!

| wow Bro 7i hit180 to 190 yards or meter I only saw that on tv when the pro hit it but its yards anyway all the best to your hunting of your new clubs
I think creative golf near chinatown got an ap2 714 but the last time I ask him he wants 950 which is abit steep in my own opinion

| I've owned 712s and now I'm playing 714s... For me they are very much alike, obvious difference being the way it goes through the turf, and better looking top line. | |
