| Hi all,
Erroneously bought a loft 9.5 (Taylormade R7 Driver CGB Max), which is not really suited for beginners as per advice I have received.
Wanted to check if anyone has any recommendations on drivers suited for beginners? What I have heard is a higher-lofted driver is better for beginners generally - so if anyone has a spare driver and wants to swap please PM me. Thanks.

| hi Chan,
while it is true that beginners should need more loft to get the ball further, imho the 1 degree of the 9.5 vs 10.5 should not make a lot of difference to you now.
just my 2 cents worth...

| Agree that loft doesn't make a huge difference to a new player...
Will suggest that you use the driver you have till you're hitting pretty consistently then get fitted so you save some cash...
If you're really technical, then you just want to make sure the swing weight isn't too heavy/heavier than your irons/wedges swing weight...

| anyway. taylor made usually marks their 11 degree drivers as 9.5. so no big difference for this stage of play | |

| For a beginner swing that is work in progress, any driver will be a big ask
Maybe keep your driver for now and play a 3w or 5w off the tee

| What hara means is many mass market drivers have their loft higher than stated.. Only few jdm drivers have "true loft".... So stick to your driver chan, maybe better to visit your coach / fitter for further advice instead.. P/s: sometimes it's psychological.. Just think of the head as 11*. | |

The reason u have problem launching might be the length of the driver. U can head to a fitter n spend abt $10-15 to have the shaft shorten to ard 45 - 45.5". You will see some diff from there.

| IMHO driver loft is the least of your worry for now. You should be more worry about the weight and flex of the shaft then the loft. Lessons are more important now as it will teach u on how to manipulate the dynamic loft and teaches you now to launch the ball.
1 degree does not make any difference if your swing is out. Dun believe. Go for demo days and try out those 10.5degrees driver. If it's suit you then look to change it. Else concentrate on your grooving your swing for now.

| Agreed with all the bros here. Though I have bought the woods, but I end up not using them and are still training to swing my irons properly.
Maybe one day you master the swing, you might like 9.5 loft more.

Have u tried others driver? Yes, I tried my friend's 10.5 and it seemed to be working better for me. Anyway, thanks for all your inputs. I guess I will hold my horses first in terms of getting to a 10.5 for now...will continue to experiment with my 9.5 and see how it gets from there!
